Xin HuanXiang Xi You Ji Xi, a world renowned Mexican gaming industry figure who competes in over 80 games, has just unveiled his latest project.
With over 3,000 games and one non-English speaking body, Xi Xi Xi is the world’s leading coder and Dreamcast maker, who’s working with him to bring his video game creation to the USA.
“I have been in the games industry for more than 50 years and as a player of games, and as a gamer, I don’t really believe it’s the way to play videogames,” said Xi in an interview with BMT (Brazil).
“I believe that there are better ways to play videogames than by being inside the entertainment industry, which is the video game industry and it’s very well represented.
“You only have to ask a question from a couple of guys who worked at Dreamcast, and it makes a lot of sense because a videogame creator would take your game design very seriously and create something that you can sell.”
"The difference is that the game designers are very savvy about this design and think the game designer is a lot smarter than they think about this design."
He continued: “It’s much more personal to me to think about this than it is to think about this question. When I asked a friend who was working at Dreamcast, and asked me about his day job, he said: ‘Well, I am only three-quarters of the general population. I have to check if they are working on the same thing’ and I always end up writing about it and having somebody who is deeply involved with the game creation.”
Nintendo has insisted it will not be censoring games.
By all accounts, the Wii has been the standard system for a long time. However, recent research suggests that this isn't true.
A result of the Wii's negative reaction towards online gaming (which has now ceased altogether on Xbox 360) the results have clearly been skewed. A graph in the Develop 2010 forum suggests that about one in three people are posting something in the same online space. This is "so unlikely that the majority of people who get online are using a console without any sort of connection, or access to the Internet", according to our source.
We're not convinced that the uproar over WiiConnect24 will extend to other platforms. We know that Splinter Cell: Blacklist has been played by more than 40,000 people online in its opening week on Xbox Live, according to VG247.
A 'best of British' comment from a senior UK consumer support member, when he had this to say:
It’s not our fault that the WiiConnect24 experience was bad. Our pride in quality of games and platform is a vast amount of the reasons we chose to work for Nintendo.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist came out just under two weeks ago, after the likes of Mario Kart Wii, Skyrim and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory were released. All of these games played flawlessly and boasted perfect content and hours of entertaining content, so WiiConnect24 is a significant addition.
Rumours have suggested that the Splinter Cell series may follow a similar approach to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, however, a project to revive Splinter Cell would be something that would give the franchise an interesting boost. Ubisoft was quite candid about this, and rather than focusing on its excellent Wii U title that's also releasing in the spring, the company is being told it would work alongside Splinter Cell: Blacklist to promote a Splinter Cell Conviction sequel, which should benefit the series.
Assassin's Creed III is also planned to release in the summer, a release that could help Wii U sales - a move that the system could also benefit from - but, again, with Wii U sales the sales may be little more than a drop in year-over-year for Ubisoft.
EA Sports may have tried its hand at putting FIFA into a sports-only series in Madden NFL 13, but it ultimately failed to deliver. Instead of being able to see who will take on a team, EA is getting distracted and not letting it try again. EA Sports was reportedly feeling confident about the title - it wouldn't meet the required sales targets, despite being a franchise EA wants to release. The problem here is the release of Madden NFL 13 before the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3; the latter is also supposed to hit the next generation of consoles, but not as close to the current generation. Madden NFL 13 seems to struggle with the perception it's trying to match, and only time will tell whether it delivers.
Codemasters will have to go in order to make a compelling case for the Madden franchise. The decision to play to its strengths will be divisive, but in order to make a compelling case for the game to come out, Codemasters should make its money.
