War Times

War Times is an action-adventure title with the focus of not just serving up some hack-and-slash combat, but actually managing to feature a somewhat different sense of humour and an "one-off" feel.

It follows the action of Soldier Blade, an ex-US Army Colonel who gets lost in a time loop that takes him to a parallel universe called Museums, where he and a group of mercenaries are suddenly thrust into a game of assassination. As such, you'll be conducting missions against the backdrop of an underground military base, mixing the political intrigue of the war with the cutthroat social schism that The Coalition was previously setting up in the war.

GOD's Jon Ashert said "When you think of War Times, a lot of people think of War Times, but in a lot of ways, War Times really is a war game, and it's very personal. You're not killing Nazis, but it's a subject matter and it's not actually on an earthable level. There's a real element of betrayal, and it has to have stakes that come with it."

On the subject of war, Ashert pointed out that while Call of Duty has been subject to regular wars in some pretty realistic ways, it has yet to show any real emotional reaction to a war. What is unique about Call of Duty's war are the big physical manifestations of personal war. Ashert said, "Because the games are all about people being out in the open and being there and that's the way the industry is now, you don't always know who's going to come in and who's going to come in and what's going to happen. It's always an open question. It's never always about what's going to happen, but there are moments where you know that the Nazis are going to come in and you know that the world has a real impact on it."

Additionally, Ashert said the team at The Sledgehammer Games had taken a crack at making the game playable, though it's not working on the final build. As a result, the game is very early in development, and there's no public announcements yet. As a result, the studio has yet to go into detail about the game's modes or weapons, or even when the game will be available for the public to play.

Looking ahead, Ashert said it's still very early days. The team is focused on bug-fixes and ensuring the game is running well. As for gameplay, Ashert said it's "very early" into the project, but there is "something special" about working in a fast-paced combat game.

"In our current build, we are working on polishing our game, but right now, we are working on a couple of key things," Ashert said. "We know the team at The Sledgehammer Games is committed to getting the game working as fast as possible, but for this specific reason, we don't have a specific release date to announce at this time. There is a lot to discuss and iterate on ahead of launch. We will have more to share about this on our website in the coming months."

This news comes alongside a new build of Asheron's Call 2. It's been in development for some time, and it's been built with the new game's new engine. The launch version will not be compatible with all the new features added to the game. The new build is being designed to include support for five-plus new multiplayer maps. The alpha version of the game will include a custom map editor, along with all of the existing player-created content and in-game loot.

The new build includes six maps: a new expansion for "a mode which has traditionally been in most RPG games" called Stronghold. There will be some new features, including all-new PvP mechanics such as the "next generation of resource acquisition" and "six new clans of players" (a class called "conquerors"), along with additional features such as the new "Conquerors" system. There will also be new battle arenas in Asheron's Call 2, including the ancient Elven citadel of the ancient Telagrin, the Ruptured city of Eryn, and the Quen, which was destroyed. The new war arenas will be playable in the "conquerors" system. For instance, the faction that took the Northern road by the Blue Dragon Throne expansion is being replaced by a faction called the Lithuanians and the Astor Kingdom, while the Encampment province of Vampires is being reduced to three different playable races, including the reptilian noble Ollie, the reptilian foot soldiers of the Alliance, and the herbivorous cobalt elf warhounds of the Asheron's Call universe. In other words, they will feature much more varied, deeper character customization and gameplay than before.
