Vietcong: First Alpha won't be released this month, but as it is one of the most anticipated tactical first-person shooters of the year, you should be excited to know that it will launch in February. But before you go buck wild with your alien-battling fury, remember that we're going to tell you about the game, so that you can see for yourself.

First Alpha is a squad-based game with some first-person shooter elements in it. The biggest thing in First Alpha is the user interface. First Alpha is still in beta testing, but as the developers discuss the release date, we'll be keeping you updated.

The most obvious difference in First Alpha is that it's all 3D. First Alpha offers a very streamlined control interface, but it also has a fairly streamlined inventory system. Everything has been meticulously polished and a very smooth interface that is easy to pick up and use. Even the most basic of missions has an important role to play in First Alpha. First Alpha lets you easily queue up games and submenus to jump into a game. Second Alpha will support a huge amount of multiplayer games.

The first person shooter elements are fairly simple to get into. The inventory system, which is similar to what we've seen in Battlefield 1942, has you picking up and dropping grenades in a tightly packed area, and then you pick up weapons, armor, and health packs. These items can then be purchased and picked up in the field, and they'll respawn after a short time. There's a good deal of strategy involved in First Alpha. You can set up one of the game's 15 maps and start clearing the rest of the enemies. You can play with any of the game's nine classes, and there are several different play styles to choose from. The multiplayer mode should be a lot of fun for many people, and the game's lock-on feature makes it even more replayable than it was in Battlefield 1942. The next game will let you lock onto your opponents so you can keep track of your location. The game is being built for the Xbox 360's wireless controller, which means you'll be able to take a good-sized TV and move it around with your mouse. We haven't been able to get a chance to play the game at this point, but we're told that the Xbox 360 game will have the same maps and weapons as the PlayStation 2 game, so you'll definitely have a lot to play around with.

The game will support multiplayer modes, including head-to-head deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the flag. There will be other modes on the disc, including capture the flag, which will let you choose your own flag to attack from the ground, and tug-of-war, which will let you team up with your teammates. You'll also be able to buy different vehicles, like aircraft and jets, and have access to different weapons. In the demo we played, we got to try out some of the cars and other vehicles that will appear in the game, including the Titan mech and the Chinook chopper. The latter vehicle will certainly get a good workout in multiplayer and should make for some interesting air combat.

The demo on the disc showed off the game's multiplayer component, which was similar to what you'd see in the first two Max Payne games. In this case, the Xbox Live version of the game was much more focused on multiplayer action, and we got to see the updated version of the game in motion. We got to try out a new mode called pointcapture, which has you taking control of a 2D plane and driving it around on the map to steal the enemy's planes. You'll have a variety of weapons and equipment to choose from, including a Uzi and sub machine gun. The single-player game was pretty fun, and we also got to check out the new cooperative campaign, which features 16-player maps and a time attack mode, as well as a mission editor.

Control is tight and easy to pick up, with the basic setup of moving your plane, and the triggers using the left and right triggers. The Y button fires your plane, while the X button allows you to move your weapons, while the Y button lets you call up an emergency radio. The X button shoots your plane's weapons, and the L1 button lets you call up an emergency radio. The L2 and R1 buttons let you cycle through your available weapons. The C button lets you cycle through the rest of your arsenal, while the R1 and R2 buttons let you switch weapons. You'll also have access to the radar and radar, which will help you determine where your opponents are located. The R2 button lets you take a closer look at the enemy, and the R2 button lets you call up a target or fire your plane's gun at it.

The next set of buttons is your plane's main weapons, which are different depending on what kind of plane you're using and what color of mode you're playing in.
