“Tom Baker was one of the smartest people in the world right now. But they just got a tester. A part of his genius has come from a heist gone wrong,” says Baker.

"I like how they think they’re doing it wrong.”

To which Baker says “Yeah, they were trying to do the Rube Goldberg - he’s the artist that could, he has his own version of the tube - just really cool and weird, and then he brought the character design to the show with Doctor Who .”

The writer goes on to say “He’s probably the most vicious actor out there.” He’s quite impassioned in the way the character design worked and it definitely shows.

“He’s got a lot of loose edges that he has to make all the time. He’s the one that is trying to make the character look cool. He’s also trying to make the character look like a t-shirt slinger to me.”

“I think the material he’s doing so well is phenomenal,” he laughs. “It really opens up a lot of opportunities. It’s such a nice world to work in. It’s always great to have a fantasy-based fantasy piece.”
