The Millenium Invaders Invasion
The Millenium Invaders Invasion
We’re into the air today in San Francisco, as we think we’ve finally secured ourselves a major spot at ION Storm. The company has now been gathered in an impressive four of these halls and there’s some seriously impressive talent being thrown into the mix. This is the third round of testing conducted by the Millenium Invitationals, as opposed to the four we’ve just conducted since the event in September. What can we expect from the online game in the coming weeks? There’s a bunch of games happening over the next few weeks, and today the top 8 teams from all around the globe will be returning to take on the latest behemoth of this tournament. The tournament has had its ups and downs but we’re getting to see what these players have to offer in this year’s tournament. Read on for our verdict.
There’s one thing we want to see here, and it’s no surprise that LANs don’t have a place in the tournament proper. Without a tournament, there wouldn’t be an online tournament, and it’s been a good opportunity for fans to see what the biggest games will be like for them. We’ve talked a lot about the possibility of such a scenario, but don’t expect it to change in 2015.
So how does this set up? Well, due to the lockdown measures it’s a much better idea than the number of spots at QuakeCon in Texas and the lack of events. With the main event in line-up, Blizzard expects to have a wider audience than they’d be able to have in America and Europe. With a new streaming service and an increased number of gamers using live events, it’s quite possible that the big tournaments in South Korea will be overcrowded, not to mention the amount of players who will have to wait for the LAN. This is a hugely important aspect of professional gaming, especially online.
What about community? Blizzard have announced a series of custom tournaments designed for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and World of Warcraft in North America. However, this is an option for one of the other games, Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm.
The new Blizzard Connect mobile game will take players from around the world across Blizzard’s maps. From the couch, players will be able to control the AI of their team, and from the area they choose, they can play either World of Warcraft or StarCraft II, each with their own unique mission chains. The game is said to be in Blizzard’s early stages of development, but the game is being played by a variety of different people and communities. The connections between the players is said to be in the game as well.
The mobile game has been in development for almost five years.
In the launch of the game, Blizzard explained that they wanted to go beyond the core franchise by using the mobile game to let players choose the course of their journey from A to Z. The game will feature five different classes that will unlock over the course of their playthrough.

A tank, a mage, a marksman, and a sniper are just a few of the classes in the game. Players can expect to find themselves switching between each of the classes mid-game as well.
The game has been in development for almost seven years, but Blizzard announced it will be released for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC later this year.
Blizzard showed off some of the more detailed character models for each of the different playable classes at BlizzCon in October 2018.
BlizzConline began with an interview with former Blizzard game director Allen Adham over the phone, when he explained that the team spent about four years planning a character. This created a really solid character designer, who wanted the player to feel like they were embodying the look of a villain.
The Overwatch character roster is comprised of ten characters. This allowed the development team to create a more realistic character that was unique from the rest of the game's lineup.
The game will feature a custom game mode that will allow players to create their own game modes and even customize their own hero. Players can either create a custom game mode in their game that will allow for "customizability, creativity, and other creative ideas."
BlizzConline was also the first time the company announced a closed beta for a free-to-play game, which is a really great move.
The biggest news at BlizzCon 2018 was the unveiling of Diablo III, a reboot of the iconic action-RPG franchise.
Overwatch, which was originally announced in 2009 as a free-to-play title, was the first game in the franchise to be developed for consoles.
