The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Knights of The Nine
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Knights of The Nine is the first expansion to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, developer Bethesda has announced. The new expansion was previously announced as part of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , and takes place two years after the events of Morrowind.
The new expansion will be a downloadable adventure, set within The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and will take players to Mehrunes Dagon's plane of Oblivion, which is said to be dominated by a secret emperor. Mehrunes Dagon is a fellow Imperial City lieutenant known as The Wyrmyr, who first appeared in Oblivion.
Players will get to go head to head with Mehrunes Dagon and explore a new area called the Knee Forge. Mehrunes Dagon, like The Elder Scrolls IV's Tamriel cousin Oblivion, will be voiced by some of the voice actors from Oblivion's predecessor, Tribunal, in Oblivion.
Bethesda expects the release of the Knights of the Nine expansion to continue in the years to come.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's third expansion pack, Knights of the Nine, will be the sixth installment in the Redguard, or saga of the game's hero, which first appeared in the original Elder Scrolls game in 1996. This time, players will join the resistance of the vampire lords and pit them against "Dark Elves, Daedra, and the Unseen."
To make this role-playing experience accessible, Bethesda will introduce a new level cap of 500, with new quests and armor, as well as a new skill system that should improve character growth and allow players to customize their character's skills and abilities. Furthermore, players will be able to cast magic, an array of spells, and even create their own hero.
The Redguard expansion will also see a number of tweaks to the core game, including new options to customize the game's physics system, the game's level cap of 200, and some new weapons and armor. These will be scattered throughout the land of Cyrodiil, with all kinds of creatures appearing in the base game.
The game will also include a new full-fledged storyline, as well as a new city-building system that will let players build and manage their own settlements. For the more advanced players, Bethesda will be adding new quests and settlements, as well as an expanded assortment of collectible items. The new expansion also includes new areas to explore and missions to complete. As detailed in the Bethesda Web site, the expansion will feature new single-player missions and quests, as well as new weapons and armor. The game will also offer a new version of the "pocket experience" feature that lets players steal anything they see and enter a range of quests.
The expansion also will also include a revamped open-world mission system. Called "enchanted activity," the mission system will let players use their own mark modifiers to keep their interests in line and quickly pursue their goals. There will be a new faction-based faction storyline called "seasons," which will be a series of quests that will have players competing in the same factions. Like the original game, the second game will also offer new items and features that will be implemented into the game. The "characteristics" system will let players make as many real-world objects as they want to in a game, including vehicles, a prison break, and a human facility. As the missions improve and the cities become more full-scale, the designers will have some new, slightly less intuitive, ways to take items to certain locations. For instance, the money system will let players make bank transactions for a high price.
The graphics in the game will apparently have a lot of detail to them, thanks to a modified engine and the development team's familiarity with the high-resolution technology used in the original game.
Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus. We'll let you know when the game is released.
RUMOR #2: A Half-Life 2: Episode 2 strategy game is in the works, and that's all we know so far.

The official story: "We're not going to give a huge update on any future plans."--Valve Software spokesperson.
What we heard: We heard it a while back from another developer, but the details of this game remain elusive. However, Valve's founder Gabe Newell has already told Shacknews.com (which is a strictly "official" part of the company's official story) that it was the announcement of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 that would provide a more official story. "We were talking about Episode 2 and, quite frankly, what we're doing right now is moving the game," he said. "In fact, it is a brand new chapter of Half-Life 2.
