The Cat In The Hat
The Cat In The Hat has made its way to Amazon Prime Video, where it's free for Prime members and available for a limited time. The full season's three-episode premiere is set for June 23.
Written and directed by Atonement's Sarah Silverman, The Cat In The Hat is an upcoming supernatural series from creator Adam McKay that takes place at a Gothic estate owned by the house of its owner, a pet goat named Wade, who's accidentally killed by the owner. "Following their return to the estate, Wade, daughter of Wade's former owner, is forced to use his infant daughter, April, to help him reclaim the home," reads Amazon's description of the series. "Lil Rel Reloaded, the sole survivor of the father's downfall, is the son of a local magic shop owner, who summons a cat to help Wade find his father."
The show will be directed by Theo Tierchett (Fresh, Deadwood) and written by Rhianna Pratchett. It follows Stephanie Brown (Lost), a young American who becomes wrapped up in a battle with the evil Sorceress (Koch Goldhouse) who has summoned a powerful spirit to destroy her family. "One day, the Sorceress stops and unleashes her powerful self-shifting power--a dark and menacing shadow of her former self--and sees what can only be described as a ritual, before transforming back into a human being. Unable to shake the stigma of the dark arts, Stephanie finds a child worthy of her mantle and experiences the superhuman experience that has brought her to where she belongs," the series description continues. "It's your job to find the person who is worthy of wielding the power of this dark weapon before it's destroyed. But, in the end, the true villain is revealed, but this was the dark times. She will discover what she has been up to, what she'll do if she becomes a god, and the fate of humanity has been forever changed."
Brutal Legend continues, but is not a direct adaptation of the 1985 novel series of the same name. "We are aware that some of the concepts were adapted before the script was even begun, but some of the plot elements that weren't adapted from the original story are intact," lead author John Bain says. "As we adapt the story of Brutal Legend, we will make the decision to keep the characters as closely tied to the original storyline as possible. Because of this, we do not want to make sure that Brutal Legend fans will be left out in the cold. That being said, Brutal Legend also includes several in-game cameos."
Brutal Legend will feature six original story arcs for players to dive into, with Brutal Legend's five arc focusing on a mysterious hero who's chosen to be the hero of one of the seven deadly sins. At the end of each of Brutal Legend's four arcs, the villain Vaatu is defeated by the heroine, and they must be killed for what the big bad is planning.
A second arc will see a new hero named Zaelic, who is sent to Middle-earth by his father, to recover the six relics that have been stolen from the kingdom of Arnor. Zaelic discovers that he has lost his mother to a Dark Lord, and he has been exiled from Arnor. Zaelic and his father Ghaz Guldin have to take down the elf king's army, which includes Aragorn, who is made of the same primitive technology that he uses in the game's opening. Ghaz Guldin, on the other hand, is a soldier who works as a mercenary, and he is trained by a seasoned army of knights.
Each time you start a new game, you'll have to choose from a list of abilities that you can equip in the game. The skills you unlock will also be based on the skill you choose from, and you'll also be able to change your class at any time. Interestingly, you'll have the option of becoming a dwarf, which will let you become a powerful wizard and learn spells that other characters have. Of course, as you make your way through the game, you'll start to accumulate better abilities and find more powerful weapons and armor, which will help you in your quest.
While Aragorn is an exceptionally powerful warrior, you'll still be able to switch to a number of other characters. For example, you'll be able to choose between Legolas, Gimli, and Gimli. Each character will have his own strengths and weaknesses, and you'll have the option of mixing and matching combinations. You can even customize his appearance to make him look more like the popular hobbit.
The combat in Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King will be very similar to that of the original Lord of the Rings games, since there's no class system in the game.
