The Ant Bully
The Ant Bully (or The Ant Bully as we've seen it in our preview ) was a bit of a departure for a group of small-town men, but an interesting new film is set to see us instead of just a bunch of guys pretending to be different, though it does look a bit lighter in comparison to the tone and style of the game. Taking place in the New York City neighbourhood of Connors, you're tasked with helping out at a small private school by getting the four boys at each school in the day, not counting the “week 1ers”. The fact that you'll also be meeting a selection of special guest characters such as teacher Joe… and sometimes, just… Wacky, so maybe it's not such a bad idea to choose one of the protagonists over the other. Unfortunately, though, that means it won't be too easy for your child to get up and get involved. We're glad that, while the game is a charming and inventive take on basketball, it's the family-friendly drama that will keep us hooked. Wacky and light hearted, if slightly undercooked. But we're also sad that this particular game doesn't use the Game Boy's colour screen feature, which doesn't make the game any easier to pick up and play.
Gameplay consists of simultaneous matches of up to four players, which adds a nice extra layer of tactical depth.
This is the type of game that would fit perfectly in a museum, so that all your family members can pick up the best ball deals. And the kid and the two parents have to unlock their favourite games, which is always fun. Also, the music and other music are cool, but we'd like to know if we could play it with the Game Boy stereo's sound turned off. We like to dream of playing Mario and his mates playing this too, and we'd like to be proven wrong!
Since the game only includes a single world to play through, we couldn't choose our own version, so we were stuck with one track with only a single song to play through.
The control is a little more user-friendly, but is still pretty much the same as the first game.
The game has you select a player to play against, which determines your character's difficulty level. In this game the main character is Level 7, but there are lots of different routes to choose from to choose from, including beating the levels of the game with the best and cheapest music for you, and even working out if you're good enough.
In any case, players can even unlock extra songs as you play through the game and add more to their personal music collection if you want.
The idea is to get as many music tracks as possible and speed through the game, with so many different difficulty levels.
The game has a solid frame rate, but it does get somewhat choppy during the gameplay and the bugs in the sound.
Samba de Amigo is definitely worth checking out if you enjoyed the first game. In fact it's one of the best sports games of all time. You can play the game using a split screen for a variety of situations. There's also a competitive option, if you want to see what the competition is all about.
In all honesty, the graphics are a bit lacking in comparison to later games in the series. If you can live with the bad graphics and the glitches, there's really not much to enjoy. The game doesn't do anything to set it apart, but it's definitely one of the better Wii games of the bunch.
Star Fox 64 3D is one of the most bizarre and entertaining titles in the Wii lineup. While the graphics might not have been the most impressive of games in the series, it's still a great title and great enough to keep you entertained for the long haul.
There are two games on this list that have more in common than they do. One of them is Conker's Bad Fur Day, which was never released outside of Japan and was never released outside of Japan. The other game is Kid Icarus: Uprising for the GameCube, but neither game has a release outside of Japan.
The game has no story mode and only a handful of stages. At the time of its release, it was a fine title, but there have been a few ports of it for the GameCube, Wii, and 3DS. If you're looking for a great Wii game to play with a friend or loved one, it's definitely worth checking out Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Another Nintendo 64 title, Mario Kart 64 was the best game of its era and was praised by many as being the best Mario Kart game ever. It could be argued that Nintendo 64 titles released for the system didn't stand the test of time, but Mario Kart 64 is considered by many to be the best game in the franchise.
