Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is the next chapter in Sam Fisher's travels through the Third Echelon's darkest years, just as Fisher took a much darker turn than before. With his new nemesis on the loose, Sam heads out on a mission that will hopefully mean a lot more trouble for the shadowy villain.

The game's story is set before Sam's escape from the factory. In addition to a faithful depiction of the classic Sam Fisher, the game will also see the return of G.I. Joe, the faceless bodyguards that were present in previous games. The game will feature more than 25 missions in all, spanning multiple levels set in different locations in the world. However, the missions themselves aren't limited to the confines of Fisher's memories, as they'll include appearances by real people, including LucasArts, Ubisoft, and everyone in between. For example, there's a quest to track down the missing ship G.I. Joe. It's your job to infiltrate and disarm the ship.

You'll also get to take part in a little puzzle-solving, although you'll have to complete it through a series of sequences in which you'll be required to engage in quick thinking and complete simple objectives. Your mission is then accomplished using the aforementioned control scheme, which will vary depending on what you're given. You'll be able to move and fire while moving, aim and fire in any direction, and use the analog stick to draw your gun and fire. You'll also have access to firearms from the start, such as flamethrowers and machetes. You'll be able to fire while crouched, which will be invaluable, since it means you'll be able to duck into cover and fire when you need to, and you'll be able to take out enemies using the combination of the R2 button and the L1 button. While the radar will direct you to a yellow targeting reticle, you'll be able to see through it by using the right analog stick to turn. When you're in range of an enemy, you'll be able to crouch and fire with the R1 button. The system's setup is fairly intuitive and works pretty well. You'll have the ability to fire while crouched, and if you hold the L1 button down, you'll lock onto an enemy and fire again. The system is pretty sensitive when you fire from the hip, and when you're kneeling over an enemy, you'll be able to strafe, but when you're crouched, your reticle will turn red and let you know that your weapon is no longer lethal.

Although the game doesn't have a huge amount of weapons to choose from, it can be quite useful when you're near a vehicle. If you pick up a mounted machine gun, for instance, and you're perched on a tall ledge and need to switch to a first-person view, you can still fire at the enemy by pushing the L1 button. While you can't fire at a vehicle while moving, it's still worth it.

Other games will have vehicles that have mounted turrets, but this doesn't require you to use your aiming and aiming in a specific direction. Your machine gun will remain out of sight until you're near an enemy, but there are small pads located around the corner of the area that you can use to move, which are best suited for hovering high above the action. Some vehicles, like the hovertank, have mounted turrets that you can use to take out enemy troops, which makes them difficult to shoot down. The vehicle itself is more than just a collection of mounted turrets. In fact, some of the vehicles in the game--some of them more powerful than others--are mounted, and they make good use of cover. For example, the hovertank is a close-range turret that is mounted to the turret of your own tank. You can easily commandeer one of your tanks, but it will require a concerted effort.

You'll also be able to use the minigun as a heavy-duty weapon, as well as a machine gun for a short-range fight.

Vehicles are split into several different categories, and each type of vehicle will have a number of unique characteristics. These include the antitank or the boat. The German commander can build some kind of mounted turret that will let him bring out some air support to the rear. These mounted turrets are better at both infantry and vehicle range than the tank.

But, because these vehicles are both machine guns and guns, you won't be able to drive off in real time. Instead, all you need to do is maintain control of the vehicle--with the proper controls, you can commandeer a tank on its way back to base, steer its forward treads around obstacles, and even fly over the sides of buildings and vehicles to take the battle to the enemy, or at least avoid it.
