Sorcerers Apprentice
Sorcerers Apprentice Apprentice is a movie tie-in that isn’t a spin-off, but a reimagining of the classic adventure movie. The plot begins with a familiar phrase: “Who is this book?”
Casting Justin St. Pierre (The Emperor’s Tomb, the Taken) in the role of wizards, the plot of the film is the story of the upcoming Sorcerers Apprentice. St. Pierre (Matthew Modine) tells us that, in this adaptation, “he’s an ordinary apprentice.”
St. Pierre is the perfect casting choice for the “primarily high-end and best-known” actress, and she’s certainly got a varied resume for the genre. She also has roles in DreamWorks’ Raya and the Last Dragon and Love, Death & Robots.
Will this one ever get released? Well, the first batch of the film has already been released and will be released to the masses in March 2022.
According to Slash Film, the film is being produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Wheeler, and you can check out some of the cast and crew in our feature.
Spielberg has already been busy. He was cast as Angelina Jolie in 2017’s Enchanted, and will soon play princess Jasmine in The Farewell of the Valley of the Wind.
There’s also this flick where “solar wizards and knights play kings and princesses and princesses are dressed in giant green tuxedo and are dressed in white, with stylized paint jobs.” We guess it might just be the big-screen adaptation we were looking for.
No one’s talking about the movie’s release date, though, because the current ‘fall’ for the project is March 2021. That’s the same month when the next Uncharted movie is released.
But, before you start wondering how the untitled Uncharted movie will actually be released, it’s worth clarifying that the film is exclusive to Sony Pictures, and not on Amazon Prime Video.
Nope. Spielberg has shown no interest in starring in any of the mainline Uncharted films, and as of 2021, The Fate of the Furious is his only movie on his resume.
But the next entry in the Uncharted series isn’t an adaptation. According to Bloomberg (opens in new tab), Sony is apparently aiming for a casting call for a female lead in the lead role – for those unaware, the film’s lead character is Nathan Drake.
That’s right – the next entry in the Uncharted franchise will take place in India, and could not be in the southern Australian section of the world. The Uncharted movie’s plot would reportedly take place during the time of a tribal conflict between the Golden Cove and the other areas of the Indian Ocean.
Sony was tight-lipped about this for some time. While the movie’s producer, Neil Burger, said in a statement to The Guardian (opens in new tab): "Based on the impressive response to our first trailer and the response so far, we believe this is the right project for our studio to adapt for screen."
So, while we wait for the Uncharted movie’s release date to be announced, check out our review of the other Sony games starring Nathan Drake (opens in new tab).
We know the Uncharted movie is set to star Anthony Hopkins, and director Seth Gordon. It is set to star Zombieland's Sophia Ali as Sully and star Mark Wahlberg as Cate Archer. Its cast also includes Antonio Banderas, Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali, and Tati Gabrielle. The movie’s set to hit theaters on February 18, 2023.
While the Uncharted movie’s release date is still a hot topic on the internet right now, the game has been struggling to secure an official release date in the UK. As far as the rest of the world goes, it has been the biggest selling game movie of all time. It has had more than a year to pick up, but that is not including US movies like The Last of Us 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which have seen massive box office numbers.
Hopefully the Uncharted movie will go up in the UK and the US soon after that, but we’re not sure how much it will cost yet. The full list of US movie releases includes:
Tom Holland’s Uncharted movie was confirmed to be a Sony movie by Jeff Goldblum and Sophia Ali. Chloe Frazer, played by Ali, is a prominent character in the game series. The other three actors are Sophia Ali, who plays Chloe’s sister, and Tati Gabrielle, who played Gabrielle’s mentor, Nadine Sully.
