Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific is the first game in the long-running Silent Hunter series for the PlayStation 2. Konami's last game, Silent Hunter 3, was released for the Game Boy Advance in Japan, and the series has been associated with the PlayStation 2 since then. In the latest entry, the game will be available only for the PlayStation 2, but the game will be a departure from the franchise's previous games. Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific is being developed by Just Add Water, the same team that produced the best action games in the series, Silent Hunter 3, and Silent Hunter 5.

Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific will offer gamers more than 30 monsters to battle, including the dreaded scorpions, ferocious dinosaurs, and the infamous one-eyed wolf. Unlike previous games, Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific will not feature the Silent Hunter series' popular special attack, which causes all attacks to have a different color of damage. Konami has previously stated that it plans to have more monsters to fight in the game. The series' strong mythos has allowed for more than a dozen playable monsters in the previous games. In addition, there will be more than 30 different monsters in the game. The monsters that you'll find will be culled from multiple mythologies, including the world of Avalon, Greek, Egyptian, Babylonian, and Babylonian.
