Scratches
Scratches are always fun in a high-quality 3D action game, especially in 3D. Now it's here in Scratches, with its own physics system and top-notch level design. Scratches are played in the city streets of Tokyo, and you can't only kill them using simple punch moves, but Scratches can also smash them into submission with a butt stomp, do massive overhead blows with a few quick taps, and even run up walls of bricks to get an instant kill.
It's like a roller coaster, right? Scratches have different elemental attacks, so you can smack opponents in their arms, use a power move to ram them, and even throw them off of ledges. Scratches can also gain extra firepower, and they can be charged up to create giant spikes that can be hurled at enemies to perform special attacks. There's a cool combo system that you can pull off, and we'd have loved to see more of the character customization system in the sequel.
Some of the different gameplay elements from previous Metal Gear games return in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. For instance, Snake's special ability was called a "junk." He used it to send out a decoy to gather items. You can then use that decoy to open up a new area, which would let Snake be closer to his friends. After killing a certain number of enemies, Snake could bring his allies back to his normal state and again be part of the same group. However, Metal Gear Solid 4 has also added an interesting new mode, called the Metal Gear Hideout. This mode presents a battlefield where Snake can infiltrate various locations and to choose from one of the many items you'll be able to customize. The Metal Gear Hideout is similar to a Metal Gear Solid hideout in that it's a postapocalyptic wasteland, so you can climb over ledges and climb over fences if you wish. There are also weapons you can choose to use and such, such as a gun-like LMG and a special sniper rifle, but the game will also have equipment you can use to hide and lure your enemies. The key to this mode is knowing the location of enemies. Using this, you can take out an enemy from hiding behind cover and crawl to a safe location. If you feel like sneaking up behind enemies and knife them, you can pull out your silenced Socom rifle and snipe them. These skills will allow you to kill soldiers from behind, or better yet, avoid them completely. If the enemy isn't looking, you can sneak up on them by pouncing on them from behind. When you're not sneaking up behind, you can still take out their legs and legs, but you have to be very careful to avoid getting close to them. It's still a brutal way to die, but it's well worth it.
Graphically, the levels are very well done. The graphics engine isn't amazing, but that shouldn't be a problem for most FPS players. There is no game where the game looks bad, but it is still good to see the level of detail and how the environment responds to changes in weather. You can sometimes be seen smoking some grass and skirting in the rain. The levels have very nice shadows and realistic textures. The jungle is almost full of trees and plants, but we managed to get a good view of them from behind. It really added a lot to the atmosphere.
Everything is high-quality, including the enemy animations. Everything is clearly visible, and even the lock-on function is realistic enough to have visual effects, such as weapon fire, cracking, and so on.
The final game will include a separate multiplayer mode where two teams will be trying to snipe each other's enemies. One player will be controlling a robot, while the other will have the character battling as an animal. Each player can either escort the robot to a new location or use it as a robot.
