Rich 8 Girls first debuted on TV in America in 1986 and has since appeared in five other shows. The 1996 feature film was based on the eight-year-old novel and is about a gang of girls and a band of explosives - with a special emphasis on hot women in its line of movie and television tropes. An English version has been released, with the 12th movie being the one to make it out of the US. This, along with all six of the television series, has resulted in two of the most popular and successful roles. In the 1999 feature, we spoke with one of the top actors in Hollywood and talked to Morgan Freeman, who plays Lucy in the upcoming film.

GameSpot: When did you start planning for the film?

Morgan Freeman: A couple of years ago I was visiting the Arts & Television Arts facility for a six-week academic conference. At this time, I was contacted by Morgan Freeman. I asked him to come to the film and I said "Do you guys think that this is possible?" But he told me he had no idea. When I saw that I thought they'd done something, I called them out to him for their feedback, and I said to him, "No, no, we'd like it. This is possible." But he wasn't able to tell me that.

I said to Morgan Freeman that he's very excited about getting to work with an executive producer, which is great. It's one of the reasons the previous film was so great. I'm very happy that Morgan's doing the script and the next one is also one of the reasons I'm thrilled to be involved with a project like this.

GameSpot: How do you feel about the cast and crew? Do you feel that the project has evolved over the past five or six years?

Morgan Freeman: We've seen a lot of the casting so far, and people have really come to appreciate what the guys are putting together. I've never been able to be too focused on getting to know these people, and if you've ever seen somebody go to the auditioning booth, they're really quite happy. It feels like a very real opportunity.

GameSpot: How much freedom do you have to pick who you want to play?

Morgan Freeman: There are lots of possibilities, but we don't want to give away anything. We're very focused on the character of Morgan, and he's not going to be nearly a hundred years old. We still haven't seen his mum, who he's been through at this point, but he has a great deal of confidence, he's kind of made a really big decision. And this year, he's taking a break from adventuring and mining. He really wants to take time to get settled.

GameSpot: Now that Morgan is a super-talented actor, what's the challenge of getting him to know him?

Morgan Freeman: It's a real question. [laughs] Well, it's hard to determine who he is, because it's a subject we haven't really discussed publicly. And there's not a ton of information about him, but I'm certainly willing to give some more clues.

GameSpot: What's Morgan's favorite track?

JR: Well, the only one I've seen is 'The Thick of It.' It's one of the most exciting tracks of my career.

GameSpot: What about the weather?

JR: Well, it's a challenge. But at the end of the day, I have to be honest. The cool thing about the weather is that it's a reflection of my lifestyle. I'm used to working in a depressing climate, but the rainy time of year is just more in your face.

GameSpot: Will there be any new game announcements for this year?

JR: We'll have more. But one of the things that I love about the games industry is that you go to game stores every year. And you go to the store and it sells the latest PC titles, and it's amazing how things are changing. But at the end of the day, we're going to be working with publishers. We will have a lot more in the coming months.

GameSpot: What will be the big announcements for this year?

JR: In this business model, we're at the point where our product takes over a business--over and over again--and we're launching a new game product every year, so we're continuing to push the development of games that can move across to other formats. We've started by making games for the Wii and DS. And now, this is moving to the next-generation consoles--specifically, the PS3 and the Xbox 360. So in 2006, I think the first thing we're going to announce is the [at the] 2006 E3 press conference.

GS: So you want to point out that you already have franchises that you'd like to bring to next-generation platforms.
