olfege is a golfing frenzy of a game that aims to be quite the way back in the late 80s, the heyday of the ‘em up. More specifically, the Golf Resort was played by 16 of the best computer golfers in the world, including the all-star Vijay Singh, Vijay Singh, and Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts. The game was designed to bring golf fans together as they competed for golfing supremacy. The graphics are still being tweaked, but they’re being enhanced with better-looking golfers, which should offer a more enjoyable gaming experience than what the player would be offered.

“We have heard that golf would be more interactive with each level,” says Vijay Singh. “This was definitely the idea of starting a golf tour, starting a new course, and then doing some of the other courses that would then allow the players to add the course. There are many different courses in Golf Resort that could be created to suit the needs of the players.”

Those playing on a Windows 95 are out of luck when it comes to PC golfers, since they will be forced to pick up the latest version of the game. Although there are several different Windows 95 games that have been created for the platform, like Pool, Chess, and Tennis, Microsoft’s latest golf-themed effort, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour, is still the best of the bunch.

According to Murray, “I think it was cool because the game was just released for Xbox, and we actually put it on a number of our computer monitors, so they were able to actually work with the game in the cockpit. We were able to take advantage of the Live system and it had so many different improvements on it.”

The Game Center Integration

Microsoft’s online gaming platform is a staple of many PC golf games, but the truth is that it has never been supported on a console. Microsoft, however, seems to have done just that. “We did have several people that made the game and on the Xbox Live service, and then they ran into a lot of problems,” Murray told GameSpot.

“You have to create your own profile in the game. You have to own a home server. You have to set up a separate server. That’s where the level of connectivity becomes very important, and it’s important to make sure that it’s managed on a regular basis.”

Developing a connection from scratch

The Xbox Live environment is designed to work better for players with the physical controller, Murray explained. “The work with the physical controller can be done just fine. The only reason we never made it work is that the ball is shaped to the position that it’s facing, which feels really great. If you are at a house, you can see all the great people in your room.”

“It’s nice when you are playing on the couch and there’s not a lot of people to talk about but once you’re in, it’s going to make for a great experience,” Murray added.

Murray also discussed the relationship between developers and the public, as opposed to being just an online community, with the industry now choosing to talk to everyone more directly.

“Most of the time, we have our own spaces in terms of technology. If you’re at a local country, we don’t have many of the tech to talk to you about what technology works, because that’s just not that good.

“So we have a different environment. We have a different culture, we have different governments and we have our own stores and hubs. We have cultural areas. And we have a different technology that connects all the different groups. We have the public space.

“So we have no public spaces. We don’t have any shops, but it’s in the culture we are in now.

“We’re trying to get a lot more out of video games as a medium, to a certain extent. So, that was something that we’ve looked at in regards to digital media.”

What we’ve seen in the story so far is that although it’s not based on the game engine, it’s certainly as close to its visual fidelity as the time has come to get.

The work-in-progress images we’ve seen are at the moment promising a cinematic experience. But they’re also proof that there are lots of ways in which we can introduce story to the game.

“In the first year, if you play the game, it’s really fun,” Iñárritu says.
