NarutoMugen
NarutoMugen's debut gambit shows itself as an addictive game for all the fans of anime or manga alike, and one that's sure to sell copies.
In the first batch of new screenshots and information, you'll find that NarutoMugen is quite reminiscent of Zelda: Wind Waker and Castlevania. It uses a combination of the convention-setting mechanics of both titles, with an emphasis on exploration and fighting. We see a range of enemies, all tied to various levels, along with a good deal of hand-to-hand combat. In one level, for example, you'll have to sneak past an unsuspecting guard. While he's not quite as efficient as Link, the level also appears to contain some of the most exciting combat scenarios of the game.
NarutoMugen will support two player two on one Xbox Live. While the second player can use a remote control for a good measure, players can also be matched up with a controller for a more fluid experience. In addition, NarutoMugen will also support up to four players in a local four-player split-screen game. Though we didn't get to see the multiplayer game in action, NarutoMugen is being produced with the intention of trying to add depth to the series by incorporating different control styles and techniques for all the characters and their individual abilities. Each character will be able to choose from a total of four variations of the character's abilities. The sword-and-shield-fighting-style gameplay is similar to the brawling in the fighting game Devil May Cry, with the prince able to punch enemies in the chest or punch them in the face. Though a sword is not required, players will also be able to use ninjutsu techniques in some situations. The four-player fighting game will also support online play with an online ranking system. We were able to try the Xbox Live support and were impressed with how smoothly it is being implemented.
Tailor Bell will be our personal favorite, and he uses an assortment of various moves that are appropriate for the ninja of the time.
As far as the single-player game goes, Anchor Bell will offer a very basic story mode that will take players through the game's many levels. The story will take you through the trials of the Seven Evils, the evil organization that originated in the original Ninja Gaiden and will make up your forces as you progress through the game. Once you've finished your training, you'll get a chance to watch the game's cutscenes and play through the game's tutorial missions. These include such varied gameplay styles as shooting and jumping that are a must for fans of the original Ninja Gaiden. You'll also find some additional bonus content that ties in nicely with the storyline and won't spoil anything.
We had the chance to try out the Xbox's online multiplayer component, which is a nice way to familiarize yourself with the game. Though it's technically the same as its predecessor, you'll be able to create a clan, which you can then link to a custom account. Once you've created a clan, you'll be able to go about your daily activities in the game, which will include dealing with demons, knocking down doors, opening gates, and more. You'll find a healthy amount of control in the game, thanks to the Xbox's solid graphics and solid gameplay.
Though the version of Ninja Gaiden we tried wasn't nearly as robust as its predecessor, the various additions to the package have been well worth the wait. You'll find new modes in addition to the aforementioned deathmatch, deathmatch, and team deathmatch. You'll find a good amount of content to appreciate in the single-player game, which is an impressive amount of content, especially for a game with such a hefty package. You'll find a meaty single-player game, which features the same collection of modes as the multiplayer offerings. You'll find a solid assortment of modes in the extras and some online modes that will provide a solid amount of replay value.
The graphics in Ninja Gaiden are looking quite sharp and offer a solid upgrade over the Xbox game. You'll find a good assortment of special effects that further accentuate the visuals. The frame rate, which stays steady at 60fps, is still pretty solid and offers a good amount of variety. You'll notice some subtle tweaks to the game's visuals as well. The original's graphics engine used a solid 2D look to deliver a solid presentation. The new material shows off the updated models and effects. You'll find a good amount of work in the audio department as well. You'll hear assorted voice samples that are good in places and serve to strengthen the visuals. You'll find a good assortment of effects in the audio department, and the tweaks keep things engaging. You'll find a nice assortment of effects in the audio department that fit nicely in the game. You'll find a solid assortment of effects in the mix as well.
