Monsters INC Pinball Panic
Monsters INC Pinball Panic! is the latest in the Sega Ages line of pinball tables that have been available in the US since late last year. This is a new, modified version of the classic 1986 pinball game, and it has an expanded interface, five different game modes, and five different characters.
The company has also designed an alternative for Japanese players and has added a new play mode called Pinball Action. This mode has you racing against a rival team of monkeys. In the championship mode, you compete against other human players to complete a specific set of scores. The addition of the Infrastructure mode means you can play through levels from the arcade game, arcade, or even an all-new level in which you compete against CPU-controlled monkeys in each level.
Of course, if you'd like to play a different pinball game, Sega Ages offers a number of new tables, all of which can be unlocked via playing with other players. There is also a new version of the popular shooter, Alien Syndrome. This game is essentially a re-creation of Alien Syndrome, the classic arcade game that was first introduced in 1987. It uses an unusual control scheme that combines two special arcade machines to allow for a more traditional pinball experience. You can choose to play a game of Alien Syndrome in order to play as the actual Alien Syndrome, but as you might expect, this requires a lot of time and some practice. We did notice some lag during some of the first game's plays, but we didn't encounter any delay or lock-on. This mode is actually very easy to pick up, since the pace of the action makes the game quite forgiving. You also have a variety of rounds that include a standard team deathmatch.
It's not just a new pinball table. There's also a new regular-game mode called Star Power. This is a fairly quick game of pinball that has you fighting for five stars on a massive boss board. This mode is a variation on a battle-royale of sorts that takes place over the course of the game. The first to win 10 stars will advance to the next round, and if you do so, you'll take home a bonus star. You can get bonus stars from this mode, and if you win five, you'll be rewarded with a bonus star. In addition, you can earn bonus stars by working on "fog of war," which will happen more often. As the game progresses, you'll also gain new items to use in your pinball arsenal.
The gameplay in Star Power is a mix of the old and the new, as well. While it is definitely not a new experience for pinball fans, it certainly is a fresh take on the gameplay. For example, the attacks are similar to those in the original Star Power. Your attacks deal a lot of damage to the board, which will be reflected in the paintball panels that you have painted onto the bottom of the playfield. These panels can then be shot in the general direction, dealing massive damage to your opponents. Like the original game, you'll have to master these attacks by managing the time required to perform them. Successfully taking the right panels to successfully take the stage will yield a bonus star. In addition, there are segments in the game where you have to successfully navigate through certain obstacles. In addition to the core pinball action, you'll need to take on missions in the game, which include boss fights against a group of Star Power-controlled opponents. Each mission has you racing through a stage, battling a boss and then blasting away at their weak points.
You'll start out your career as a basic novice pinball player. You'll earn stars by successfully completing missions and defeating certain enemies. You'll earn stars by destroying the Star Power-meets-asma panels scattered throughout the various levels. As you progress through the game, you'll be able to unlock various different upgrades for your pinballer. As you make your way through the game, you'll be able to upgrade various aspects of your pinballer. As you progress through the game, you'll earn bonuses as well as special powers that will let you traverse the game's multiple areas.
The graphics in the game have been brought over to the PlayStation 2. The original pinball graphics were simplistic, with a static character model and minimal color. However, as you progress through the game, you'll find that the PlayStation 2 version of the game offers a good variety of environments to choose from. The pinball world is a well-realized mix of detailed environments and light sourcing. You'll find little touches, such as more detailed watercolors and backgrounds, to add variety to the game. The courts feature all the expected pinball graphics, from big special effects and flashy lighting effects to a generous helping of special effects. The game also features a solid assortment of courts, from indoor backgrounds and buildings to ice and forest.
