Lucky Luke Go West

Lucky Luke Go West is set to appear in the next season of the hit Star Wars TV show.

In an interview with Variety, Luke Evans has revealed that he’s signed on to play the ever-great Luke Skywalker and that he’s a part of the show. “I'm gonna just be able to be somebody who will take that, and I don't know what the future holds for that character, but Luke is probably one of the most important characters in the entire show,” he told the publication.

The new show will be set decades after the events of The Force Awakens, in the summer of 2015.

Will this be enough to fill a long-standing Star Wars? According to Evans, it should. “I don't know if that'll ever happen. But I'd love to. I mean, I love it. But at the same time, I know, I'll probably be the man to replace him.”

“I mean, I want to make sure that I can be something that was what I had been wanting for so long, but I don't know if that ever happens. If it ever happens, it's going to be the man,” Evans added. “I know, I'm going to have to make sure that I'm something that people like and respect, so that I'm not going to spoil anything about it. I know that's a bit of a difficult thing to do.”

Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren were the final survivors of a long-running trilogy, so fans might be a little surprised to learn that Evans wouldn't be able to return for another six movies in the long-running franchise. But no, Evans does think he's open to returning to another story in the franchise.

"You have to keep the consistency that you keep, but at the same time have the challenge that you keep the consistency of it. I mean, if you try to do all the trilogy after The Last Jedi, you're not going to find out what happened, but I think it's fun to have that on a franchise, and it's something I think is cool."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab), Evans spoke about returning to the franchise. "If you think about this series, I think we've been discussing it for a long time, and it's kind of around right now and all the timelines, and there's nothing I can say about it. I can't talk about it, but it's fun to have that on a franchise, and there's never been a one-off in a trilogy. That's just been a wonderful story. But it's cool to have that on a franchise."

As for Rise of Skywalker, Abrams' production company, Industrial Light and Magic, has been incredibly busy. According to THR, the studio was recently hired by Disney to produce a 4K home video movie featuring Star Wars: The Last Jedi's character Rian Johnson, though no production start date has been set.

Meanwhile, HBO Max has exclusive TV programming in the form of Euphoria, The Sopranos, and Game of Thrones. A few projects have also been delayed, including the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, which is due to arrive in 2022.

Back in March, The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab) claimed that there were no production start dates set for these shows, with another report suggesting that the lead cast is set to be released after the first season wraps up on December 2023. Given that these shows are based on some of the best-selling novels of all time, it would make sense for them to go out in April, when the show's first season could have premiered.

Beyond that, though, there's no word on when we'll see these shows back in the hands of HBO. In March, The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab) said that the network was filming season one, and that there was "still no word on when season two will arrive."

So, we can only assume that, in May, we'll be seeing more of this popular series again. After The Game of Thrones, it's safe to say that HBO's streaming video services are looking to keep the momentum going, and each new season is sure to be hit by another major, and hotly anticipated, series.

You can't miss The Game of Thrones season 8 release date, either – and you don't even have to wait a whole year for it.

Now available to stream on HBO Max in the US, and Sky Atlantic on NOW TV in the UK.

Netflix has once again decided to break tradition by launching The Witcher season 2 in November. Based on the fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, this second season sees Ciri and Geralt embark on a journey to find the legendary Witcher.
