Left Behind Eternal Forces
Left Behind Eternal Forces from Rebellion, the third-person action game that is also published by Activision, has been delayed until February, according to the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, which covers the GameCube and the PlayStation 2 version of the game. The GameCube version of Eternal Forces is currently being developed by VU Games, while the PlayStation 2 version is being developed by Black Hole Entertainment.
Borrowing the strategy-action gameplay found in the PS2 version, Eternal Forces has the player select from five different heroes and travel through a 3D overworld. Unlike the PS2 version of the game, however, Eternal Forces' game will feature a completely different camera perspective. The game will feature a more realistic feel to the environments than the PS2 version. The player can use the right analog stick to move around, while the left analog stick controls movement. The developers have tweaked the character's level design from the PS2 version, and the game will also feature a variety of deathmatch modes that pit players against one another. The game will also feature a multiplayer mode for up to eight players.
Controls will feel very familiar to fans of the Xbox version of the game. The majority of the control will be mapped to the shoulder buttons, while the shoulder buttons will be used to select various characters. In addition, the game will feature a new set of gesture-based combat moves, as well as a host of special moves, such as the throwing of animals or the jumping of trains. The characters will also have a new targeting system, as well as some new melee moves that can be performed by simply tapping the corresponding face buttons. To make it easy to use all the characters, you'll have the option of switching between them on the fly. The game's weapons and magic will be customizable with two different tabs, one for weapons and another for magic.
The graphics in the game are coming together quite well, although they don't match up to the 360 version. The characters and environments are nicely detailed and look great. You'll see roughly 1,000 frames of animation, which helps immerse the game's world. The environments also manage to look good. The polygon count is good, as does the impressive-looking animation. The characters themselves, while impressive, are a bit basic. We're pleased to report that the frame rate does tend to fall off when the camera is zoomed in on a particular character. The first-person-to-shooter element is slightly problematic, as it lets you quickly get into a lock and switch to the third-person perspective. The frame rate has also been adjusted a bit, which makes it somewhat difficult to find your character when you're in cover. In addition, you'll find an auto-aim feature in the game that will let you manually aim your shot if you are facing the wrong direction.

You'll find your first postapocalyptic location in Russia, which sees you assuming the role of a 20-year-old man named Gabriel who's a member of a revolutionary resistance movement. You'll have a good deal of freedom in dealing with the enemy. As you'd expect, there are a number of weapons at your disposal. You'll be able to fight while shooting and with the "flame," a unique ability that will let you put a burn on enemies. The butt kicker in the game is the addition of one new wrinkle to the proceedings that's sure to change up the flow of gameplay. You'll be able to have your squadmates revolve around you while you explore the area. You'll be able to switch between the two by using the triggers on your Xbox 360 controller.
