After discovering his power, the boy decides to journey through his dreams, finding himself involved in the supernatural phenomena.

The horror has been split into two volumes so far - then released and then retitled - each chapter.

This supernatural anime features time loops, ghosts, and an entity that is killing young boys. Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre is a remake of the original story with visuals that have been remade to be closer to the original horror manga.

The new story begins when teenager Junji comes into possession of a school uniform. When she enters the school, she finds that the students have been possessed by a serial killer.

From there on out, Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre continues telling the story of Junji Ito as he seeks to win back his parents' debt to the school and returns to his own murder cases.
