Hot Wheels Jetz

Hot Wheels Jetz, the add-on to the Ford GT, has been the subject of debate lately. On one hand, the in-game ad campaign is a brilliant blend of an aggressive drive that seems to be trying to capture the feel of driving some hot cars. On the other, it feels as though it's trying to try and ape the traditional cars that have been the popular model of cars in the past.

The vehicle variety, which runs from quick to furious when used by opponents and isn't an enormous change from the standard 4WD cars, is set in a rural California town, where all the cars have been built around a flat road that is just a shack, except for the manual. After using the orange truck's engine to drive around the city, you have to stop your way by braking and speeding down a street. The mud isn't just a static image, as the track is strewn with racers that are quite reputed in the same way as the driver, as they will shake, grab, and pull you in when the truck's tires touch down. Like in real life, these racers can be tricked out with realistic cars that often feel more organic than their real counterparts, such as the Jeep or the Ford GT.

Even at this early stage, Motorstorm's graphics are shaping up to be pretty gorgeous, and they are even higher-end than they were on the PlayStation 2. The cars' sharp edges and silky-smooth performance are easily discernible, and the number of tricks and shortcuts you'll be able to pull off during the game are impressive. You'll even be able to use trick moves, which are tied to the right analog stick, that help you pull off longer tricks in the game. More interesting than the trick moves are the cars' actual vehicles, as well as the tracks themselves. While the build we played was still rough, they looked stunning and included plenty of shortcuts and high-traffic areas. The track we tried out also featured varied paths to the finish line, including a lake filled with icy slums and a canyon that featured an assortment of jumps and other debris. A race through the ice valley featured a cliff face with twisting bridges and ledges. You'll also be able to use the environment to your advantage by creating hot wrecks or snowmobiles. The version we were able to check out featured two tracks--one covered in snow, one with no spoilers and one set on the track below. The tracks we tried were impressive in their design and featured sizable cliffs and plenty of snow and debris. The tracks we saw were full of paths that included hills, loops, and crisscrossing paths. While the overall size of the tracks was still early, they were set up nicely and ran a good deal of the time. The car models in the game are nicely detailed and feature quite a few rough edges.

While the graphics in the game are looking a bit rough at this stage, they seem to have come together quite well. The frame rate was kept smooth, and the frame rate kept falling in the face of a pretty hefty frame rate. While the visuals are still quite good, they have a very good look to them, and they fit in with the film's rather creepy atmosphere. The car models are highly detailed and feature some nice detail that's been put to good use in the music and movie sequences. While the look of the game hasn't changed, the car models and tracks are a little darker and feature a healthy amount of detail. The environments offer some cool color and a fair amount of variety in terms of their appearance. While you're in the driver's seat of a car, the whole set up makes a nice complement to the chaos found in the car scenes. While the cars themselves look a little rough at this stage, they still sport a decent amount of detail, which is complemented by the solid physics and the fine detail. We have to say the cars in the game are some of the best that we've seen in the series to date.

While the game's core mechanics are solid, there's no question that, while the visuals and audio have progressed a bit, they're not quite up to snuff. While the single-player game is looking solid, the robust multiplayer features and some of the new cars that have been added to the game's mix are a bit underwhelming. Still, the core gameplay is solid, and there are a lot of cool new additions to the game. The online component, for example, has gotten some work done and should hopefully continue to receive the same support as its predecessor. The two-player game offers some interesting options for those looking to get a competitive edge over their friends. The game also features a cooperative option that lets you pick up the DS game and play with friends, which is cool.

The audio in the game offers a rich collection of effects, music, and voice that should please those who want to feel as though they've been tricked into thinking that the game is pretty cool.
