Grandia II
Grandia II is considered the last Grandia, following the release of Grandia in 1998. Released to US reviewers in 1997, the sequel to the original will have you exploring the Adol-dumin' Republic of Alcatraz on foot in a 16-bit world inspired by Japanese artist Fujishima.
With the introduction of the Grandia II 3D engine, as well as the more recent Grandia II, the developers at Gameloft are aiming for a PC audience.
"With Grandia II on the horizon, we feel it is a perfect time to bring the story and gameplay to a new generation of gamers," says Jean-Philippe Bourgeois, president of Gameloft. "Grandia II has a special place in the hearts of JRPG fans worldwide, but for those of us who would like to play Grandia II on the go, Grandia II will be a perfect place to go."
Grandia II will be available for US$19.99.
In 2004, Gameloft and George Lazenby partnered to create an original title called Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. The game was created by a Japanese developer called Feelplus, a Japanese animation studio founded by legendary game creator Ryuhei Kitamura.
In the game, player character Adel, part of a rebel group sent to the military base of a rebel alliance, is tasked with carrying out the bad guys' plot. This storyline has proven to be popular among JRPG fans, and it has been praised by critics, but Grandia II is perhaps the best the series has seen.
The reason for the game's success is because of the efforts of its original creators. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for the PlayStation 2 is due for a US release in late 2004.
"Star Ocean has always been a pillar of JRPG development. The story and setting of the game is a huge deal, and we've been inspired by that," said Tetsuya Nomura, the original creator of Final Fantasy. "We are going to take the best elements from all of those games and start with them, in order to create something new.
"When we first started creating this game, we knew it was going to be really cool, and I hope that players will take the time to enjoy it.
"That said, there are a lot of people who are going to be really into this game."

Recently, the PS2 was revealed for a September 10 launch. Famitsu revealed that the game will be coming to Japanese stores on October 4, while the English version will be released on November 9.
Yamagami's HD remake of Star Ocean: Second Story is also due out on November 12, but Famitsu didn't specify a specific date. It's likely the game will be available in three countries at launch: the United States, Canada, and Europe.
We'll update this story as more details are revealed.
Tetsuya Nomura, director of the original Star Ocean, is leaving Square Enix to form his own company. He joins Atlus' 3D RPG duo Tri Force Heroes and Marvelous, the first non-Final Fantasy game from the company. He also has a new, playable trailer for Dissidia: Final Fantasy.
He's returning to Tokyo, where he's developing The Last Remnant, a PlayStation Portable fighting game. The game will feature the same combat system that was in the original Final Fantasy, but the title will be on a different engine. It's not due out until 2022.
Finally, the Resident Evil series has been renamed to Resident Evil Village, and it's coming to PS5 and PC (plus PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch). Here's a more in-depth look at what the game will look like:
The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will feature the entire Elder Scrolls saga at once in Tamriel Unlimited. Players will be able to explore over 500 provinces and battle dragons, a mechanic used in every Elder Scrolls game since Daggerfall. There are also a handful of Tamriel races, and you can only play as one, and each one will have unique skills and abilities.
The Elder Scrolls Online is coming to PS5 and PC, and it will support the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. There will be a variety of items in the world, including fish, that you can catch and sell, and a guild that you can join. It's coming out in Q1 2022.
The Elder Scrolls Online is coming to PS5 and PC in Q2 2021, but not until Q2 2022. A closed beta will be held on PS4 and Xbox One. PS5 players can pre-order the game now.
The next Elder Scrolls game will be The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, the standalone prequel to Morrowind.
