Formula 1 2006
Formula 1 2006 is scheduled to launch on November 22. Developed by Codemasters, the latest Formula 1 racing game focuses on the topography of Formula 1, and this time around, the series focuses on the world's most famous circuits, such as the UK, Italy, and Germany.
Like the previous games in the series, the first to be released, Formula 1 2005 features dynamic seasons. Your team will move from current to next in the game, and every season will bring about a different number of seasons, including the following months. Each season will allow you to compete in either single or multiplayer races using a wide variety of machines and real-world conditions. For instance, in the UK you'll be competing in the Japanese Championship during the 2004 and 2004 seasons, and in the US you'll find the Tokyo Tour. And in Europe, you'll find two circuits in the game, the FW65/Lazarus and F1 for the 2002 season. Each circuit in the game has its own attributes and style of play, so choosing the right track is important. For example, if you like the Le Mans in Europe, you'll want to use your favorite track, but you'll have the option to use France in France, or Italy in the Championship.
The actual racing in F1 2005 will be based on actual circuits from the world of Formula One, and the majority of the circuits will be based on real-world circuits. The circuits in F1 2005 will include all the races from those days, such as the Le Mans Lugee, Suzuka Circuit, and the Aston Martin GTS-12 Penske, along with the Phillip Island and the 2002 Grand Prix circuit. To make sure you'll have a good time and have the best times possible, you'll have the option of unlocking additional cars through your career mode, such as the 2003 Evo F1. These cars are a solid assortment of in-car highlights, but only the Formula One cars will actually be able to drive them.
The other features of F1 2005 that you'll be able to use in the game will be in the form of the new Nitro Vision camera that will give you a closer look at the action on the track. The camera will let you direct your view of the action on the track, much like it does in most racing games. The HUD will give you a heads-up on how much damage you're doing in a race, and you'll be able to use it to pick out cars on the track. While the HUD has its own minutiae that tell you how much damage you're doing in a race, it will be helpful to know which cars are giving you trouble and which ones have a large risk/reward mechanic. The car-tuning interface has been tweaked to give you more control over how your car rides perform. The nitro is now fully animated, which gives you a better idea of what to expect from the car if you're driving it or just take a moment to get to the "sweet spot."
New car handling features include proper traction control, two pressure settings, and custom gear shifters.
You'll be able to take a boatload of abuse into the tracks by employing the interior, front, and back windows. The exterior windows will show you the bits and pieces of the track you can demolish to gain a better view of the surrounding area. The roof will be your biggest concern, but you'll want to spend some time getting to the top of the city and exploring the busy intersections. The game will have plenty of different environments to explore. For example, you'll be able to drive through traffic and stop the lights on the concrete ceiling. The roof will also have areas for you to explore, including the rundown market and sports cars.
While the driving is your main priority, you'll need to be smart about the environment to succeed.
The driving is a big part of the Dirt 3 experience, and the development team has been doing a great job of letting you customize the controls. You can assign buttons on the PS3 controller to the trigger buttons, and you'll use them to take corners or to guard out of an area. The right bumper serves as the big back button, and you can use the left bumper to take cover. The L1 button will let you issue your primary weapons, while the X button will allow you to call up a menu of items. The triangle button lets you adjust your handling, the square button will let you access different vehicle types, and the square button will let you call up a radio and a GPS. You can use the left bumper to let you navigate the different routes on the tracks. In addition, you can change the lighting on the truck by pressing the square button once you've got your truck on and the triangle button to call up the radio.
The audio in the game will be your standard assortment of blips, bellow, and cymbal cries, with the soundtrack and the game's realistic sound engine giving the game a unique feel.
