Ford Street Racing
Ford Street Racing will let you take the wheel of a car from the comfort of your own sofa in one of four distinct modes: Race, Championship, Arcade, and Challenge. The first three modes are broken up into five categories: Race, Circuit, Career, and Racing. While Race is set to be a traditional rally racing experience, Arcade features the kind of racing that you can expect from a racing game. In Championship, you'll be racing in a variety of sports like drag racing and driving, with some racers you can race in a few weeks. Arcade offers a very high-speed experience that should make it easy for you to find a racer for your skill level.
Races are set in all over the world, and in the cities, most of them are known for their diverse terrain. So it's no surprise that if you want to compete in some off-road racing, you can. And it seems that Ford Street Racing will have that covered. The cars in the game look good. You'll be able to choose from seven different car classes, and each one will be upgradable, letting you take the appearance of one of the seven cars on the race track.
The tracks in the game are huge, and they feature pretty wide-open areas. The tracks are densely packed with traffic, and while they're generally short, they also give the game a look that suits the story of the game. There are also areas that are expansive and have shortcuts that you can't get around without turning around. Also, there's a nifty amount of interactivity that lets you perform some cool moves, such as getting your car into a slide. For example, you can get an aerodynamic boost by pressing up on the D pad. You'll also be able to perform a power slide by pressing down on the D pad.
Each of the courses in the game features a variety of twists and turns.
The graphics in the game have come together quite nicely. Each of the cars is made up of a large part of the road and is well modeled in 3D. We got to see the car models in motion and for the car itself, and the game shows off some nice little details that show off the power of the PlayStation 2 hardware. All of the cars are animated well, as are the environments. We got to see the different environments that you'll be racing through in the game, which include the Hot Hatch and Mexico City and Washington DC. The various environments are all pretty detailed and feature a nice sense of depth. For example, the Mexican scene has a nice complement of details, such as an arch on the track, which shows off some nice textures. All of the textures for the cars and environments are well done and sport a nice sense of scale, which keeps the action from getting too choppy.
All told, it looks like a fairly impressive effort from a visual standpoint. While the frame rate has obviously come a long way, the game's visuals look pretty sharp. You'll find that the most impressive thing about the graphics in the game is the cars and environments. The cars themselves are looking pretty good, although they tend to offer a little less of a contrast than in other racing games. The other nice thing about the cars in the game is the environments, which feature a nice amount of detail. The countryside, especially in the countryside, looks pretty nice, although it can get a little rough sometimes. You'll find nice little touches such as water, which, while not quite as nice to look at as in other games, does have its own advantages. You'll find there's a bit of snow all over the road as well, and it adds to the overall detail. Overall, the car models are quite sharp, although there are a few rough edges on occasion. There's some decent texture work on the cars, but nothing to be too overly enthusiastic about.
The audio in the game will likely appeal to fans of the Grand Theft Auto series. The game's tracks are fully voiced and feature a soundtrack that includes some fantastic tracks from the GTA: Vice City soundtrack. For those who are still playing the game for the first time, the game also features a local multiplayer mode. We got to try it out on the Xbox 360 and, if you haven't already, check out the five-minute multiplayer beta for the game.
Rockstar Games was showing off a level from the game that features a little monkey and a series of extremely sharp-looking weapons. The weapons in the game are all very unique, and they feature a little bit of a makeover to complement the over-the-top violence of the game. The weapons in the game are impressive, with what Rockstar Games calls a "rage streak" of exploding head-on shots and shrapnel tossed into the heads of enemy vehicles. You can fire off sticky bombs or, if you're feeling silly, fire off a dozen different explosive shots.
