Football Mogul 2008 is, well, the name of the game. It's being developed by Brisbane-based Blue Byte and published by Nexon in conjunction with Timegate. It's a football game where the team is trying to play it nice and play it nice. Players will be able to change their team's uniforms, look for in-game boosts, and try out new formations in the exhibition mode.

There will be four modes of play: game, exhibition, season, playoffs, and league. The game will include a career mode that has you get to play, a scenario mode that will let you create a team, go against a computer opponent, or go against another player. We played the game's arcade mode and, after playing it for a bit, had a lot of fun. It wasn't exactly the most sophisticated game on the market at the time, but it was quite playable.

Kotaku reported on several games that have been confirmed for the game, including FIFA 07 for the PSP, which will be released in Japan on July 1, 2006, and in North America on July 10, 2006. Of course, one of the games that will be released at launch is FIFA 07, which is essentially FIFA 06 for the PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC. In addition, we're informed that EA Sports will release a handful of games simultaneously with the PSP version, as well as the Xbox 360 game.

The only news we got a glimpse of was that the upcoming FIFA 06 is being developed by EA Canada. No other information was available on the game, but the team is rumoured to have developed some additional skills that will include transfer and player-specific dribbling.

The biggest news to come out of Electronic Arts is that the game will be coming to the PSP and the Xbox 360. EA Mobile will be handling the game in-house. It will have three full-fledged FIFA teams, including the likes of Real Madrid, Brazil, and Napoli. Players will be able to play for free on the pitch in the PSP version, though there will also be some unlockable content available.

We're told that the handheld version will boast 50-plus licensed teams and 22 official stadiums. There will be a create-a-player mode to let players take their pick of players and edit them however they want. The same modes will be available in the PS2 and Xbox versions of the game, as well.

We played one of the PS2 versions of FIFA Street. This was a spot of sports trivia, and we quickly found out that it can be played online using the PSP's wireless connectivity. The wireless options we saw in the PSP game were some of the most user-friendly we've ever seen. There are a number of PSP-specific minigames, as well as a time-attack mode and a free-for-all mode. We didn't get to see any of the minigames in action, but you'll find a lot of nods and bonuses to familiar tactics.

The visuals in the PSP version of FIFA Street were looking good, and they looked good even in high-end TVs. We were impressed by how the game ran on the PS2, thanks to some of the high-res detail that EA Sports has produced. The PS2 game used an enhanced version of FIFA's visuals engine to add to the overall look of the game. The player models were crisp and detailed, and we were especially pleased to see some slick animation added to their likenesses. As with the PlayStation 2 game, the audio in FIFA Street was comparably strong, thanks to some strong engine upgrades and an impressive selection of licensed music.

The gameplay has seen some refinements.

Football Mogul 2008

As far as the game modes go, FIFA Street sticks closely to the core modes of play found in the PlayStation 2 game. You'll find a standard single-player game and a two-player option that will let you take a look at a customized game. The game will offer two different multiplayer options: exhibition and create-a-player. The exhibition mode will feature several different game types to choose from and will let you play any of the included stadiums as you see fit. The create-a-player option will let you take an in-game player and pit him against a friend. The create-a-player mode will let you take any player from the game against any of the available players. The create-a-player mode will let you create a player from scratch and will let you customize the look, appearance, and features of his or her attributes. Finally, the create-a-player option will let you customize all the options you'd expect from the game's create-a-player mode. The create-a-player option lets you set a basic appearance for your character and let you tweak a wide variety of facial features and accessories. The face-mapping option lets you choose your hair, eyes, and mouths.
