Final Mission is a tactical role-playing game for the Sony PlayStation that lets you play as a female clone of an old friend, Count Randiano, and a close friend. You and up to three other people are able to play as one of the two playable characters in the game. The PlayStation version will have four different endings, and the team will design every scenario in the game to have multiple endings. The game will include many minigames, including a miniature army, a death match, a strategic island, a road trip, and even a field battle. In addition, Square's Q-Games will release Final Mission: Final Mission EX to complement the PlayStation's memory card reader.

"We've learned to innovate during development. With the additional memory card slots in the PlayStation, this is the first PlayStation game to do the same thing," said Fierce Pecia, director of marketing for Square Electronic Arts. "With Final Mission EX, we have a fun and innovative system. We've designed the battle system to allow the player to initiate a counterattack on all the enemies he or she is facing."

As mentioned, Final Mission EX will be developed by Level-5, the company that developed the series' first entry. The team will then build the game from the ground up for the PlayStation. Additionally, "players will be able to experience it in new ways," according to Fierce Pecia.

Final Mission EX will feature 15 missions that are designed to become "more dynamic" with each run through. The game will feature a music soundtrack composed by Nobuo Uematsu, an accomplished composer known for his work on Chrono Trigger. The game's sound design will also be different than that of the previous installment in the series, so players should expect a variety of different elements, such as car sounds, multiple RPG elements, and traditional Final battle strategies.

Final Mission EX will have a total of 50 missions, which will vary according to how well players complete each mission. The missions in the previous game focused on taking out a number of enemies. However, the AI will be much improved this time around, as Pecia has designed the new AI for bosses.

Final Mission EX will also feature a new boss battle mode called "engaging," in which players can take on a boss at any point in the game. The game's two main fighting styles are air, ground, and air. Air is a faster paced style of play, which will yield greater speed than ground mode. As air is the only action available to air units, air will become a strong power source and vice versa. To put it another way, air will also be a source of damage to both units.

The enemies in the game are more complex, but they are more resilient.

For example, flying through the air will bring out a huge flaming boulder that will send other units flying over it. The attackers can attack it with a fairly wide range of attacks. But the tulkers will be out of commission once they reach the ground. The random nature of the enemies and their tendency to repeat will determine how effective the attacks will be.

Final Mission EX is scheduled for release in the spring.

Graphically, Final Mission EX is another fun-looking game, with impressive character design and a nice amount of action onscreen. The use of color, especially in the characters, is quite amazing, and even the explosions are animated nicely. The developers of Final Mission have also done a good job of putting a really atmospheric soundtrack into the game. In fact, the soundtracks in Final Mission EX have made quite a comeback.

Sometime in the spring, you'll be able to play the game in either a Japanese or English audio file. The translation is in complete, and the game is looking pretty sharp.

Final Mission EX, on the other hand, will be released in the latter part of this year.

As we mentioned before, Final Mission EX is scheduled for release in spring.

Final Mission EX is set for a November release in Japan. A US version is planned for November.

A year after Final Mission, the game was completed in February. However, in May, Square and its subsidiary Eidos merged into the company, and Eidos issued an end to shareholders.

Square will release Final Mission EX on the PlayStation in North America. It's being developed by a joint venture with Square subsidiary SCi, and a US version is currently in development.
