Downstone - The Revenge of the Stoonies
Downstone - The Revenge of the Stoonies is a tribute to 80's and 90's 80's classics and will feature some surprises to the fans who fondly remember the very first time they leapt into the blocky, sharp-travelling universe of a SNES classic. For this game, developer 1-4 is taking the beloved 2D platforming gameplay and expanding on it to offer a new "stealth action adventure" experience that makes use of the characters, and includes more than 40 levels set in a total of 45 different environments.
Up to four players can take control of the characters simultaneously.
The game starts out in an action level and then zooms you into a mission area in the background. The action starts off at a big heady train station and immediately sets you off on your mission to reach an area in the background, where the puzzles will require you to be stealthy and quick. The story doesn't begin until you've successfully hidden a secret exit from an area and rescued the hostages, and so you quickly find yourself looking for an exit door and sneaking around inside. From there, you can get to your next mission by going through the different areas and taking out enemies in order to find the exit. Once you do that, you're dropped back into a mission area, where the action is presented in a smaller size. There are some things you can do in the level, such as rescuing hostages, making it through an obstacle course or hanging out with someone during a hostage escape, but they're just not really going to help you when the boss fights are against you. This adds some challenge to the game and makes you want to just stay stealthy in order to solve some of the puzzles.
While the game uses a slightly different engine than its predecessors, it still uses the same controls and design. The visuals look pretty decent and look very nicely done. The environments are very well done, with large, open areas, where you have to sneak around and evade certain enemies. There's not too much of a learning curve for most of the game, but if you do find the puzzles annoying, then you'll find yourself enjoying some of the atmospheric visuals and the intense action.
The sound and music were an improvement over those of the first game. The sound effects for weapons were very well done and more varied. Overall, the score was quite well done. The team has made some tweaks to the game so that it doesn't just sound good, but also affects the experience in some way.
The game's graphics are all done using the Unreal Engine 3. However, the end result was very good, giving the game a very solid feel. The music and audio were nice touches that will definitely help make the game more accessible for fans of first-person shooters.
Multiplayer is in the game as well, so there are many modes to choose from. The game supports up to 16 players and is set in an open-ended world with various points of interest that can be explored. Players will have a choice of 12 maps that include classic maps like World War II, a modern, futuristic version of China, and a medieval version of the map that features popular urban areas. In the multiplayer game, teams will be able to choose between the PMA and the American teams.
The multiplayer mode in Deus Ex: Invisible War is one of the best that Ion Storm has ever created. With a full four-player split-screen mode, a deep story, and the ability to play with up to 12 players, the game is a lot of fun. The single-player modes of the game are fairly simple and work well for players who are looking for a bit more challenge. There are plenty of options in the options.
Players can either take on the role of a new agent sent in to investigate a terrorist attack or use him as an aide. The new single-player missions offer some good variety and provide some interesting scenarios.
What really sets Deus Ex: Invisible War apart from other games in the genre is the strong character writing and character development. While the game is a role-playing game first and foremost, it really is a story-driven experience. Players will find yourself questioning what's real and what's not. The game's voice acting features some excellent performances from some well-known actors. Players will also get to play as three different characters in the game, each with unique storylines and personalities.
Playing as a new agent might not sound like the most exciting or engaging game for people who are looking for a thrilling and immersive gaming experience. However, Deus Ex: Invisible War is really immersive as all three characters can talk to each other, talk in one-liners, and react to the player's actions.
Players can choose from an array of different cybernetic augmentations and gadgets, and they can also play the game with up to four people cooperatively.
