Dovetail Games is working on a new action/adventure game for the PC. The company is based in Budapest, Hungary, and the action game will be built using Unreal Engine 3.

Dovetail Games is best known for its award-winning RPG project, Daikatana, and other Unreal games, which have earned more than $1 billion in revenue. It also produces the Mechwarrior and Half-Life series, as well as the upcoming Dune II: Battle for Dune.

In the game, you'll be involved in combat, on the surface, and with the aid of a submarine. You'll have the choice of controlling one of four sides in the game, including the goody-two-shoes, the dark side, or the goody-two-shoes. During the course of the game, you'll get to pilot both sides during a time period with different objectives. The game is being built in the Unreal engine, which means that it won't require the latest hardware to run smoothly. The main game engine will support 128 players.

Like many other PC games, Dovetail Games will be offering support for Dolby Pro Logic II sound, and it plans to be released some time in late 2004. The developer is also collaborating with the Polish studio Wargaming.net to make use of its latest generation technology. In the meantime, it's focusing on bug-fixing, optimizing, and refining the game. In the meantime, Dovetail is working on a series of free content updates that will address a range of issues. You'll be able to play the game in both single-player and multiplayer modes.

GS: What's in the schedule for the first-quarter game?

JB: We will be releasing additional content for the game in the first half of 2004. We are also trying to minimize the risk of downtime during the first half of 2004. For instance, in the first half of 2004 we will be releasing new multiplayer maps. While it is unknown what new multiplayer maps we will add, we do expect them to be enhanced in order to deliver competitive gameplay.

GS: What are the key selling points of the Xbox version of the game?

JB: Overall, the game has been well received. Although the game is currently in development, we are now fully focused on the development of the online portion of the game. We have a great deal of love and appreciation for the series and are very excited to be working with the game's development team on the new Xbox version. We have also opened up the game to more people, so we've increased the number of people who can play it as well.

GS: What can you tell us about the game's multiplayer modes? Will there be other game modes in the game?

JB: Our game modes are all present and accounted for in the game, but we're concentrating on the core of the gameplay experience first and foremost. The modes we've outlined above include deathmatch, team deathmatch, point capture, which is basically the deathmatch that is the most important part of the game. We've also added two more modes, however, which you can check out in the images that we've provided.

On the gameplay side, we have expanded the control options in the game to better take advantage of the Xbox's better hardware and lessens the amount of onscreen clutter. We've made the game easier to pick up and play, which has led to a lot of players trying out the game. We've also enhanced the scoring system to make sure that each player has his or her own unique experience, and in turn, if he or she's in a team, he or she will be a different type of player. That's especially important because the rewards you receive for each kill are so strong that it is rare to get a score right out of the gate.

Now, let's talk about the game's other game modes. We've got another tournament mode that we haven't mentioned yet, but you can expect to compete in one of these modes at some point in the game. Here, you can go head-to-head against a friend and try to get a victory. In addition to the game's standard four-player deathmatch, the game includes a race to the finish line with a team of human players. In this mode, you can race against one another to see who can keep the crown. If you get the crown, you can win it and continue to build it up until you either beat the other team or eliminate the other team.

As we have mentioned before, the competition in the game is driven by two main elements: how far you can go to earn more time in the game, and the amount of experience you'll earn in this mode. In addition to the racing itself, there are a number of different racing modes in the game, ranging from the standard standard lap-based style of races to time attack, versus, and survival.
