Divinie Divinity, which is now available for pre-order on the US Amazon store, is the sequel to Divine Divinity. It’s quite literally what Baldur will be, as the game is to start in the “big time”. After defeating the Witch King, the new party of four (the Dwarves, Red Orcs, Humans, and Orcs) will be thrown into the middle of a “fantastical and multi-layered tower defense game.” It’s up to you to choose which mission to take, or to save your team.

There’s the obligatory choice of character classes, choices of backgrounds, characters, and special powers, which you can use to have the party’s fighting abilities tweaked (or as they’re called in the game). You’ll have to deal with a plague of evil forces, a legion of orcs, and the destruction that lay waste to the land. Expect a full system of “unlimited resources” to play with.

One of the coolest features of the campaign is a set of campaign maps that encourage you to “explore the pyramids and structures that surround the pyramids in order to discover the secrets of the mysterious nuke”. Each campaign features multiple layers of the pyramid structure, each one requiring different approaches and a number of different routes to victory. In addition, each mission has different conditions, including time limits, enemies, and you’ll need to try and take the puzzle out in order to win. It’s an addictive mix of gameplay that plays out across various maps, and it’s nice to see how well the campaign works.

Another unique element of the campaign is the level structure. Each map can be played at any time, and depending on how often you manage to progress through the game, it’ll require you to complete certain objectives, usually in a level that requires you to capture a certain number of landmarks, as well as an additional objective, such as rescuing a VIP from a pyramids, or clearing a certain number of enemies in order to move on. It’s really just a nice touch that lets you quickly get used to the different aspects of the gameplay.

Outside of missions, there’s quite a bit to do on each map. You’ll likely come across side missions by clearing them in order to earn extra cash, but they’re pretty easy to get through as well, allowing you to focus on gaining as many cash as possible. If you’re looking for a less linear experience, though, you’ll be pleased to know that this part of the game is only available in the open-world portion, although a total of 20 missions are available on the open-world map.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Call of Duty is always a big target for microtransactions. Granted, it’s always a little surprising when a shooter is offered the opportunity to spend real-world money to get as many different cosmetics, but when they’re actually all included, it feels pretty authentic. The menus in the game have also been simplified quite a bit, so you can’t play the game to unlock everything and instead are left to your own devices.

If you don’t have access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta, then Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is one of the biggest games on the market, with a hefty player base, free DLC, and a hefty price tag. It’s worth keeping in mind that Black Ops Cold War is only a pre-order for PS4, and it doesn’t offer any PC-exclusive content.

So if you already own Black Ops Cold War on Xbox, PS4, or PC, then Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is one of the best shooters of all time. However, for the game to be available on Steam, you will need to purchase an Activision Store subscription.
