Cyber Grand Prix is a 3D driving simulator from Atari that was originally scheduled for release on the Sony PlayStation 2, but had to be reworked by the company, due to its lack of developer experience. The game was finally reworked by Ready At Dawn, the same team that worked on the Tomb Raider games.

Cyber Grand Prix gives players the ability to assume the role of one of six characters in a race around the world, including the grittiest man or woman in a sport. You'll also have a full day and night cycle as well as a practice mode and a complete scenario editor. Cyber Grand Prix also features a wide range of different car models and environments from around the world. A number of optional mini-challenges will also be available to keep players engaged.

The game's graphics have also been reworked, thanks to a new rendering engine that looks more natural and detailed than its previous work. Cyber Grand Prix also features an improved ball physics system, like those found in Hasbro's Driver and the NASCAR games, that allows you to seamlessly move the ball around in any direction and can also be controlled using the face buttons. The game is slated for a June release.

Update: Added updated review

The original editorial statement provided some interesting data.

On Wednesday, in addition to all of the above, a mysterious edition of the Edge forum appeared. Some games would reveal details about a possible new GameCube console.

According to the article, the Edge site includes a picture of what looks like the Nintendo 64 version of Mario. There are no further details other than the name.

Nintendo has been quick to deny the existence of a GameCube. "This is in the company's interest to avoid confusion and speculation," a representative told GameSpot. "Nintendo does not comment on rumors or speculation."

However, a second Web site, allegedly from Toys "R" Us, indicated that Nintendo has been "reinvigorating" the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and offered some technical information. A game rating for Luigi's Mansion will be announced at the E3 show. The title of the game will reportedly be "Nintendo 64 GameCube."

The most recent leak, which showed a GameCube screen, confirmed that two companies are teaming up to create a new console. According to the listing, Nintendo is collaborating with Japanese third-party development firm Koei. Koei will be developing the game for Microsoft's console, the Xbox 360, and Sony's PlayStation 3, respectively.

In another apparent slip-up, it appears that both Microsoft and Sony have begun work on projects for their consoles. While the companies could be working on two different versions of their next-gen systems, the documents come straight from Sony. The document describes the two platforms as "compatible" and states that both companies "will develop for the next-gen platforms." Koei has already confirmed the existence of a next-generation Xbox, but the company did not disclose further details. However, it is speculated that Sony will announce a new console in late 2006, and that the publisher may use its briefing to unveil its next console at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

It is also rumored that the company is working on a GameCube successor. However, this isn't the first time that Koei has mentioned a next-generation console. In July, it was reported that the software division of Koei had been merged with Japanese game company Sega. Since Sega is a major corporation in Japan, Sega is said to be the only publisher in the world to be announcing a new console. In August, it was reported that Microsoft and Nintendo were in talks for a new console, and this rumor suggests that Sega is indeed in negotiations to develop a GameCube successor.
