Counter-Strike Online
Counter-Strike Online has been completely pulled from the North American server in less than a day after a 'HotSpot" a Counter-Strike fan asked Valve Software to remove the download code from Counter-Strike Online. The mod team later provided a statement on the matter, noting that the reason for the removal was that the following day it received an M-word from the Counter-Strike and Half-Life team:
"Valve is extremely pleased with the situation and very concerned about their ability to take advantage of the large volume of Steam users out there."
Counter-Strike Online was first announced last summer. In fact, Valve was at one point using a Valve-created mod tool to make CS the default game on the service. A GameSpot feature in last year's GameSpot feature discovered that Valve had implemented "full cross-platform functionality" in the game. The rest is history.
