Combat Flight Simulator 3 Battle for Britain Addon has been available for about a month now, and it has been available in stores since May. The add-on, which can be downloaded from the links below, adds new planes and scenarios. The WWII side of the game will be the first new aircraft added to the game. Also, the add-on allows for multiplayer using all the in-game action you’d expect from the add-on.

“We had great fun creating the Battle for Britain add-on,” said Jeremy Heath, Combat Flight Simulator 3’s product manager. “We had our focus squarely on delivering authentic WWII aviation experiences. With our latest add-on, we have further reinforced our commitment to add-on content, allowing our players to experience more of our full range of WWII aviation in addition to the existing modes.”

While the add-on is available now, the add-on costs £6.99 (that’s $9.99 for the pack alone) or £19.99 (that’s $39.99 for the pack alone). A new update will be released for download at a later date.

Ikoria’s Ben Cureton, Senior Producer for D-Day’s Warplanes, explains how the added value of the add-on is helped by the sheer volume of flying sims that already exist. “For me, it’s been a remarkable experience. When you’re flying as an RAF pilot, you’re immersed in what’s happening on the battlefield. You’re given the freedom to fly a broad range of aircraft and give your own personal perspective on the ground,” he says.

Beyond ‘return’ flight models, there are two new modes: capture the flag, an objective-based campaign which lets you fly as a pilot or as part of a gaggle of US fighters; and mini-dilotic double-mission mode, which is a clear homage to the more in-depth Star Trek Voyager DS game. In both cases, you’ll be able to unlock the likes of appearances by the series’ various ships, while using the multiplayer maps in both modes will let you face off against the clock in a more competitive way.

Battlefront will make a return to Star Trek Online, and it will see the introduction of two new maps to the mix. Next to Name in Name in Name, is Cyclone. Created by the independent developers of FASA: Air Attack: Alien Base, it’s described as “a completely new experience” for Star Trek Online. “The mini-map in this mission is a giant sphere in the middle of the battlefield which causes and hogs enemies to slowly spawn over it. This is very exciting, because it really adds a new layer to the action,” said Chris Kang, Executive Producer for Star Trek Online. “It is a highly maneuverable environment and it’s amazing how well the combat works.”

Finally, Namco Bandai Games will be adding yet another map to the Star Trek Online universe. Called Temporal Rift, this map is a small map set in a barren, sand-covered expanse and has “a unique flow-flow flow.” It has a great flow flow-flow and transitions seamlessly between the flow-flow and flow-flow of the environment. It was shown to be particularly tricky to navigate, because it was such a big departure from the traditional MMORPG level design. “The enemies will react to changes in combat,” explained Kang. “Sometimes they won’t even have their hands on you. Often they will stop coming, but they won’t just walk into your base.” So, expect to see some pretty dangerous enemies. You will, of course, be able to board a Federation ship and repel it, as well as travel across the warp before you. However, the maps will also have unique effects.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Kang elaborated that the game will have multiplayer support. However, what players won’t get is a traditional competitive mode. “Multiplayer is only possible in-game.” He said, “and we have had the privilege to run some of the most popular PvP maps from the Star Trek universe.” The detail that was highlighted was that players will be able to pick from a large variety of ships, and it will all be unlocked from the start. “This is one of those things that is all players are able to learn about each ship.”

When you’re not on the USS Enterprise, your ship will also be familiar to you. “You’ll see your hull, ship, and weapons of choice from the films.
