CIA Operative Solo Missions
CIA Operative Solo Missions is one of the most promising missions we've seen in the game. It's designed to serve as a follow-up to the original title, and even features the co-op Mission Architect mission that will let you build your own missions.
The missions seem to focus on three of the new teams, the same as the rest of the missions. While the former are fairly basic missions, the latter are more straightforward, where you'll have to deploy troops and conduct research in preparation for the mission's counterattacks.
The missions in the mission are not incredibly challenging. All you have to do is bring in your squad, choose the appropriate training subject, and begin training. This provides a level of detail in the combat and combat, which is nice.
The missions seem to be well-paced, and we're happy to report that the missions offer some real variety. There are not that many options, but once you get through the missions, you'll get a great deal of freedom. In one mission, for example, you're battling a group of Germans in a maze-like area, and you can use your team's artillery and your general abilities to blow them out. In another mission, for instance, you're defending a German-controlled tank from a stationary gunner, while another mission requires you to defend a German base from antiaircraft fire. The missions take you from one stage to the next, with your mission objectives changing accordingly.
The Xbox version of Medal of Honor II seems to have some significant graphical improvements over the original game, as well. At one point, a group of Germans had spawned into a village. The game's fog of war has been vastly reduced, and you'll be able to see your teammates' heads--which are now modeled more realistically, even during the game's dark stages--in battle. It doesn't appear as though the fog of war has completely changed, though--this is merely a visual effect that's nowhere near as convincing as you might think. We can't help but wonder how this will affect the game's artificial intelligence. Aside from the fact that enemy soldiers now have the ability to turn around corners, the environment seems to be noticeably more realistic, with buildings and ceilings that will react realistically to your fire, and explosions that can be blown up.
The most noticeable improvement in the Xbox version of Medal of Honor II is the "heat." When you fire a weapon, the enemy soldier reacts quite realistically. He takes off his clothes in slow motion, and his eyes rotate during explosions. It's a visually realistic effect, and while we didn't get to see much in the way of character animation during our demo, we do know that it's on some level, though we do know that the developers are keen to have that much realistic and realistic eye-view of objects--something that's so apparent from the multiplayer maps that it'll probably go unnoticed by the AI.
The level we were shown had a number of indoor and outdoor maps, which featured houses, passageways, and staircases to make it relatively difficult to avoid fire. We also noticed that there were a few vehicles strewn about, including a jeep, a mounted machine gun, and a buggy. While the main maps were all fairly large, the next one was perhaps the most large in the game, and it had three additional battlefields: a shipping battle arena, an abandoned minefield, and a forest arena. The final map we were shown featured several other abandoned mines, as well as a bridge that also featured a number of barrels and other crates to hide behind.
The single-player game is being developed in-house at Spark, the same studio that made the highly acclaimed first-person shooter Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus. The goal of the single-player game is to find and destroy eight main base types of enemies that will make up the seven levels of the single-player game. In addition to the single-player game, a team-up mode will let players play through the single-player levels as either Abe or a second player. There are 12 different multiplayer levels in the single-player game, and they include the Forest, Highlands, The Ruins, Forest, City, Mistywood, Undermountain, and The Forest.
The single-player game features a total of 50 single-player missions. In addition to the single-player game, players will be able to unlock various multiplayer vehicles, such as a jeep, submarine, helicopter, and antivehicle tank. The single-player game features seven vehicles that can be used in either single-player or multiplayer modes. Each vehicle will have three different attributes: weight, armor, speed, and weapons. The vehicles will have a number of unique characteristics that will allow them to do different types of maneuvers.
For example, one vehicle will carry an automatic weapon, whereas another vehicle will carry an antivehicle cannon.
