Blade Of Darkness

Blade Of Darkness is a remake of his manga’s in which a new life form, long hair and dark hair with blades hooked to it.

Co-written by Gareth Roberts and directed by Stanley Kubrick, it’s set to be the story of the young Jericho Kings’ ghost-hunting nephew Tancred to hunt down a serial killer (and some snarling body parts, we’re betting).

Scott has signed on to write and direct, and his skills are spot on, but Roberts is best known for his work in the Star Trek film franchise.

Oscar-winning screenwriter Sean Harlin will pen the script and Roberts, who’s an adaptation of Mark Wahlberg’s John Waters/Johnny Mnemonic novel of the same name, will direct the film. Expect to see him steering the movement of modern PC productions, following the evolution of the Blade of Darkness series.

Star Trek is due out in cinemas on March 27, 2023.

When to stream it: Friday, March 2

While we’ve seen The Green Knight on streaming services over the past year, it’s never been done on the big screen. Luckily for fans of the series, UK-based Prime Video has found a way to stream this latest addition to its TV library.

Based on the true story of the bestselling novel by Michael Fleischer, The Green Knight stars David Bowie as Arthur Curry, a nurse who is cursed by the Green Knight to undergo a dangerous transformation into an immortal (a la John Stewart in The Mask of Zorro).

Part, part and parcel to Arthur’s arrival, The Green Knight focuses on his travels in the ruins of his world, battling monsters and destroying all sorts of things, including symbols, jugs, and the evil voice that is also responsible for saving humanity.

While The Green Knight may be inspired by Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, it is inspired by the sci-fi films and that’s where The Green Knight really shines.

The show’s characters don’t age very well and everything in The Green Knight is disturbingly self-serving and over-the-top (or downright awful) – so it’s no surprise that many fans of this acclaimed epic are going to be shocked at how successful it is.

Perhaps the key to the success of the show is the broad range of elements and storylines it explores – from the recent revelation that Captain Picard’s son died in a disaster and that Captain Picard survived on a quest to find a new home in the universe (in the distant future), to the science fiction TV shows of the same name.

Most of the appeal is being able to go back to historical settings and stories that are fully grounded in reality.

One of the key strengths of the show is how you can interact with your audience and feel connected to them – if you’ve never watched one of the shows before, it’s pretty clear to anyone that it feels like a bit of a throwback to some of the more popular TV series that have been airing since the 1980s.

Indeed, there’s plenty of new stuff that Picard fans will be happy to see – and newcomers to the show will be eased into the show as well.

In the first two episodes of the show, we saw a group of young people travel to the Borealis, an unexplored location in Star Trek lore. But they soon realize that something is amiss when a former ship-to-ship crew (the Romulan models) crash-lands on the ship.

It’s the first episode of the show to get a full shot of the ship, and what we see is explored in great detail. This shows just how much a throwback it is to the original series.

The crew also finds out about a creature that turned out to be a Romulan colony – who, as a religious figure, is both powerful and dangerous. You’ll meet an unexpected member of the Q continuum, who has ties to the Borg, and who appears to be someone who you will likely have a tough time finding out about.

Both of these characters appear to be problematic in the show, as they both want to capture the Romulans for their own nefarious purposes, and want to do it for their own reasons.

“The military ships can’t catch up with the Klingons,” says Neron. “They don’t make sense to just betray the Klingon society and let them die at their own hands.”

This is an interesting line, because a lot of other episodes in the series – including The Next Generation – show how the Klingon race could be all about the Romulans.

"This is going to be an epic battle, not a space war,” says Elnor.
