Bards Tale
Bards Tale is the upcoming action adventure game from Clifftop, the studio responsible for the critically acclaimed Thief 2 and Loom. There have been several game-related releases since its acquisition by Square, and the development team consists of almost no one but three people, one of which is indie developer Ben Jeffery, the man responsible for the original Mana series.
The game will focus on "comebacking" with the main characters, as well as the locations of the game and its main characters, as they try to find the missing crown. Jeffery's time in the Square role of director at Clifftop has included wanting to create a romantic comedy with many of the main characters, as well as a mystery to unravel.
The game's storyline will revolve around the archetypal role of a young female warrior, and the game will have a focus on the character's first job at the academy. Jane and Kent, the two women of the school's greatest heroines, will also be featured in the game as romance options. The game is set to be released on Nintendo Switch in the fall.
Severed will be published by Nicalis, the studio behind the equally intriguing Deadly Premonition series, as well as Lords of Shadow and the upcoming Cult of the Lamb. Not much has been revealed about the game at this time, but it is slated to be a horror action game, in which the main character, a woman named V.T.A.L.K.E.R., finds herself and a group of cultists known as The Vigil to fight off a supernatural invasion that takes place in a strange new world.
You'll have to use your trusty grappling hook to take down waves of cultists, who are locked in a twisted world where you have to use your powers to survive. You'll be able to use different weapons, such as pistols, grenades, and boomerangs, to take down the supernatural enemies. It is scheduled for release in 2018.
The description says that players will experience "the highs and lows of everyday life, and that is the case with the game, which will take place in a post-apocalyptic world where robots are fighting for survival against an energy crisis and hunger. Along the way, you'll experience your adventures as a survivor of a robot uprising."
It's due for release in 2018.
The year is 2002, and our heroes are teaming up to stop a group of creatures called the Ouroboros. The robots are hunting for the other robots to stop them. However, the humans are eager to find a way to use their abilities to make the worlds better for humans.
Tunic has been developed in collaboration with none other than Tunic studio Andrew Shouldice, who is best known for creating the critically acclaimed Enter the Gungeon. Like Tunic, it was created by the same studio that made Fez.
Here's a recap:
Tunic is a "roguelike" (similar to how games like Fez, Pikmin, and Metroid Dread have you "digging up pathways" in dungeons) and it's due to release for PC and Switch sometime in 2018. We've not heard much about the game for a while, but it sounds like it's going to be a very interesting game, especially with its long-anticipated stretchy-haired fox protagonist.
It's a little early to even think about what exactly it'll be like, but it certainly looks like it'll be more action-packed than we're used to, which makes the game look like something we've actually seen before.
We don't have a release date for Tunic just yet, but we do know that it'll be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 in addition to PC. It was confirmed as a console exclusive for at least three years.
You may have heard about the trailer for Xbox's exclusive, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, a game that leaked ahead of time. According to the leak, the game is in development at another studio. It's the latest game from Rare, who are best known for their work on the Donkey Kong Country series, so this is a promising sign that it could be a big hit for the Xbox family of consoles.
While we don't have a release date for this game just yet, we do know that it'll be released sometime in 2023. Rare has a history of making quality games, and it's been confirmed that this is a "reimagining" of Rare's classic platformer. While there are rumors of it coming to Nintendo Switch, no details have been revealed yet.
Everwild is an upcoming Xbox-exclusive game that will be published by Microsoft and will be releasing sometime in 2024. The game has been rumored for years, but we're finally getting one.
