Armed Assault Queens Gambit
Armed Assault Queens Gambit, the stand-alone publishing rights to Armed Assault's first two games, has signed a five-year publishing deal with the eSports and "meet the North American eSports world." The two games were released for PC in 1998 and 1998, respectively.
The three games are based on the 2003 League of Legends Summer Series, 2012 League of Legends World Championships, and the 2013 League of Legends World Championship. Armed Assault also includes the Global Championship Season 2.
"We are thrilled to continue our international collaboration with Armed Assault Queens Gambit," said Karthus Uled. "We're incredibly proud to be working with our team and get to work with them. It's no surprise that the Armed Assault series will become a major event in North America."
Armed Assault's first two games--2011 League of Legends Global Championship and 2013 League of Legends World Championships--were released for PC in January.
Armed Assault's new PC game will also include eSports features. "We also know how to make a PC game that's going to stand out from the competition," Armed Assault CEO, Riot Games, said in a statement. "From this point of view, it's crucial for Armed Assault to give gamers what they want in terms of gameplay and content."
Armed Assault's newly announced PC game will also include the Geozerite map editor, which allows players to build and share their own maps, videos, and more.
The Geozerite map editor is one of the first and foremost features in Armed Assault's PC edition. Armed Assault will also include a "community tool" that can connect you and other Armed Assault players, and Ubisoft will be encouraging them to contribute "to this initiative" to help in "future decisions" regarding game features.
Armed Assault is a competitive shooter where players take part in heated games, and Ubisoft has announced a new tournament partnership with the community-driven Shield Team, which aims to promote the pro eSports scene.
Armed Assault will also include some sort of ladder system where teams and skill ratings can be set up for the upcoming beta test of the game.
Armed Assault's competitive multiplayer is being built with the NetEase cloud gaming platform. A "guides" system where players can earn points by playing online, is also being introduced in the game's beta, Ubisoft said.
Armed Assault is scheduled to release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC sometime this year. The closed beta period will start on June 25.
Also during Ubisoft's briefing, the publisher also announced that the Wii U version of Star Wars Battlefront, which was announced in March, will be delayed until later in the year.
