"Live-enabled co-op game," says the Riptide GP developer. "And it really shows through the game. The difference is that the player is no longer a mead in a row."
Like many games released with live-streamed features, this multiplayer game will let up to four players race around a track, blowing things up and protecting their respective vehicle. Once the match starts, the cars become karts and the racers progress through the city.
The game will use a method called real-time strategy - no action has been taken into account. The game supports up to four players, and each player has to work together to complete missions and destroy various objects.
"We believe that the biggest obstacle to maintaining a great racing game is the number of players. It is very important that the player is engaging, supported, and regularly progressing through the game," Riptide GP game director Enric Alvarez told Eurogamer.
"You'll probably want to play the game with four friends and give them a chance to work together to beat the competition.
"We also want to make sure that we don't overload you with random missions or objectives, and instead leave you with an unpredictable game. We don't want to force the player to spend a ton of time on the game mode - it's not that big of a deal, but we're trying to give a lot of replayability and longevity to the experience."
Milestone Games is creating a new hardcore racing game called ProStreet, which has a focus on extreme physics. Riptide GP developer Greenheal said the aim is to make a title that "suits" players' tastes and interests.
"One of the things that we're really excited about is the attention to realism, it's got to be a game that does that, we want to create that that realistic feel, it's got to be an immersive game," Greenheal said.
"We are a brand that's very small but loves making the most authentic and realistic racing game, we want to give that with this.
"We're trying to show the complete package and the best features of the game and get it into the hands of gamers, so we hope to give gamers the chance to get their hands on that and give it a shot. And it's going to be an experience that offers them great gameplay experience. And I can't wait to see how it shapes up, and will be excited about it."
Greenheal said other upcoming titles from Codemasters are being built with the input of Codies rather than the standard PC license holder.
"We've been focused on PC gaming, we've focused on online gaming and that's where we're going to push and get this done. We've also been focused on developing, so it's a very console-centric title," he said. "We're really going to focus on PC gaming. We're going to build on it and really improve the game in a way that's very console-focused and makes it more compelling to play with friends. And there's going to be stuff that's coming out and we're really going to see how it goes."
The recently announced PC versions of Forza 4, Dirt 3, and ZombiU are the game's sole stand-out PC launch, but the UK developer also plans to make its full-scale 2011 game Blackout: Zombies Ate My Neighbors playable on consoles and other platforms at some point later this year.
"The PC version of Black Ops will be very, very console-centric," Nordberg said. "We'll go into the details about that and we'll have to wait and see if there are any differences in console terms."
Black Ops and ZombiU were not the only games to support split-screen play recently. However, the only games to support it are Borderlands 2, Forza Horizon 2, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
"But yeah, there are some interesting things to talk about," Nordberg said. "I mean, I haven't had a chance to look at those and get a feel for what the features and how they work. But even then, there are some interesting things that we're working on to make sure it's as great as possible for gamers."
Budds of Xbox marketing boss Stephen Baker took time to thank everyone who played Black Ops, saying Microsoft did a "great job" in getting people excited about the Xbox One.
"It's just a really fun experience," Baker said. "You can have the same level of excitement. I don't think anybody should be upset if it doesn't have a share of the same excitement for PlayStation 4, but it's really gratifying when you think about the new consoles."
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming to Xbox One on November 11.
