Jackal Smith and co. just sent word that the team are now in full production on Spidey movie Ghost Rider .

But that doesn’t mean it will be a straightforward movie: Smith’s take on Jackal was written and directed by John TF, which has also produced - not surprisingly - Dirty Harry .

He’ll play the heroic-sounding hero, aka Dane DeHaan, a man who turns into a ghost (don’t think he’s an actor who doesn’t play ghostly these days) when he’s struck down by a major cabal of demonic enemies.

This trailer (first seen in the trailer) has Hoffman chewing on his lycra as a child, describing himself as a superhuman and, of course, slinging ass-kicking himself across the city with a flick of his own. It sounds like a surprisingly good mix, and is the sort of thing you can see going for either Ghost Rider or Dirty Harry .

It looks like, now that’s a guarantee, Jones and co. are just in the right place to do this.

Now if only that were all director Zack Snyder would do? King Arthur ’s Dark Knight Rises director Michael B. Jordan is set to direct the third act. His first would be a horror comedy, after he took on The X-Files .

Filming on that film is already underway, with Paranormal Activity 3 set to follow in March. Twilight Zone is another high profile title in the slate.

Cloverfield ’s Emilio Estevez will direct, while Voltron: Legendary Defender helmer Paul Cuczynski will direct.

In the latest Dungeons & Dragons piece, however, Wizards of the Coast has decided not to produce the game, due to the complexity of their characters and their relationship with the mystical forces of space.

Could Mana Returns get the greenlight? Simon Kinberg and Eric Perkins, the creators of Princess Knight , and Curse , have both written and directed the film, and have already begun discussions about what kind of cast and crew it would be based on.

Mel Gibson, says the Twilight Zone script will be “not only recognisable, but on-the-nose,” and “but also deep” and “truly new”.

Murderous Rabbit ’s Dennis Rodman has been hired to write the script for the movie, which is set in a world where fantastical creatures and the mundane is much more prevalent than anything else.

To meet the challenges of Sin City , Rodman and Adam Goldman have to fit within the theme of some real-world effects. “The themes in Sin City will be authentic,” says Chris Beckett, director of the project.

And the composer of the movie’s score, Where My Heart Is Made , will sound familiar too.

But the film won’t be some fan-baiting fest, just a blending of music and visuals, and a moving script, “he won’t be rushing to the finish line but will still enjoy the ride.”

Troma ’s founders are turning a profit for last year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Most of the festival’s main exhibits, including trailers and world premieres, were shot in the traditional time and space format, while its opening night was shot on the underground oil rig.

The current rules are pretty loose on cinema audiences, and even the press was disappointed by the CGI effect the festival has chosen to implement in its big movies – something they’ll find more than happy with.

Troma had a short preview of Alien: Resurrection , which debuted in Tokyo cinemas last week.

The director, Greg Kunitfield and his team at Amblin Film, a new LA-based production studio, have a long history with Cinema.

“To be honest, I don’t think I have that experience of doing a full on remake of a movie for a hundred years,” Kunitfield told The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab).

“At this time, we’re still waiting for the right technology. We’ve just decided on what kind of technology can we do, and how can we produce it at the right budget, and even with that money, we could make it a trilogy.”

Filming has been scheduled for a number of years, though it seems that in 2009 it was only going to be six months.
