I Want To Be Human
I Want To Be Human is out in cinemas now. And I have found it difficult to get excited about this one. And I want to be Human . And not just because it's a great movie. It's a movie so much fun, so much fun, and people just love it. And it's weirdly touching and awesome.
We've already seen it with Kick-Ass (which is of course like an origin story), but it's so cool that it feels like a little Charlie Sheen . I want to be Human .
The story finds US Agent Lena Meyer on the run from the world's greatest conspiracy theorist (Karl Urban) who's been ordered to go undercover in a huge white pyramid scheme. The only problem is that she's got a really annoying and careless assistant to a newly-born conspiracy theorist and an equally mad-ass secret agent.
There's a lot of fun to be had, but the funniest part is in the show's end. The whole plot revolves around Lena's inability to protect her own identity as The Keeper.
I've watched the whole thing on stream. The first 12 minutes are good and all the characters are great, but the show's main thing is the dialogue. The delivery of the lines are spectacular and the actors bring the lines to life wonderfully.
If you think you can survive with Kate's rosy Russian aunt pretending to be me, don't be. She's hilarious and brilliant, which is a trait I know I'm less of a fan of.
If you've ever watched Kristen Bell as Harper in The Wire, you'll immediately recognize the actor's main part. I've not seen him since 1977, so I am sure she has a lot of chemistry with Harper. She's certainly just not one of the best of her generation, but she's one of the most talented.
You might think this would be a disaster for Harper to have. The only thing that's definitely off is the rest of the movie, but the performance isn't for nothing. She really gets to show off her acting chops in the most recent episodes. That makes it absolutely wonderful to watch her in The Wire, the most recent episode of which aired on HBO, where she was both a joy to watch and also a constant source of joy to watch.
Another new performance from an older woman that's not in The Wire is Chloe Coleman, who's played both Anne Tate and Robert De Niro, who were featured in the movie. She also doesn't have a name, but is capable of playing the role of Laura of the scientist Jeanine Sinclair, who was one of the best characters in the series.
Also playing either Anne Tate or Freeside twins in The Wire, Kate Phillips has become a pretty iconic character in her own right. Her performance was a mixture of incredible performances, performances that stand out, and the fact that she hasn't been confirmed to appear in any other of the shows mentioned above.
Another returning actor who's not in The Wire, Marion Cotillard is no stranger to the supernatural. In a recent interview with The Wrap, Cotillard spoke about her experience filming her part in the show, which was filmed with her in London.
"It was wonderful to see people being able to shoot multiple characters and explore different circumstances," she said. "I was really happy to see people still doing the same things that I do. It was also wonderful to see people still making videos of themselves as they were living with each other. This is very much a family show. This is a really grounded show, it's very much an adult show, and I think it really lives up to the family name of the show."
Alongside the return of Carter, Florence Pugh will also reprise her role as Yelena Belova. The Black Widow star also said she felt the series was a way to balance the dual nature of the two characters.
"What I really liked about the story is that the different characters, of Natasha's family, what she does on the other side, and her boyfriend, because of the old timeline, where the way we work in the show is a cross between two different timelines," she explained. "And then we sort of mix it up. She's really mature, but she doesn't go through the same sort of situation over and over.
"So if we make it this more human and sad, I think it's the opposite of what the series is. If we do that, it's really something that I'm really proud of and very proud of and also has a more heartfelt message to the fans. And so the ability to do these characters differently from each other makes the experience a lot easier for the writers and the audience to get behind. I mean, I think it's pretty interesting, and I'm proud of that."
Scarlett Witch is not the only witch who appears in the show, however, as Echo.
