Heartomics 2
Heartomics 2 (the sequel to Heartomics) is nearing completion, but I've got a few weeks to fill it up. The original Heartomics was just a tech demo. But I don't think anyone will find a more diverse and interesting proposition on the Switch. I want Heartomics to be even better. And, most importantly, I think it's going to be the best sequel I've ever seen on the system.
But I can't bring myself to care about the fact that Heartomics is only a tech demo. A few months ago, I came across a preview of Heartomics 2. I asked if there would be more staff at the studio, and the reception was promising. A small number of employees told me that they will be one of the first to admit they're working on a sequel, and when they said no, I simply asked them, "where are the remaining staff?"
I gave up on the job.
Heartomics 2 is still a demo. It's getting closer, but I can't take it anymore. The demo is going to be my last one.
Heartomics 2's visuals, writing, art style, and use of Unreal Engine 4 aren't just the biggest improvements, they're the main improvements.
We still have to wait to see what the game will look like, but at least we're getting a good look at how it plays. I want more info from the development team on how it'll play, but this demo I played did let me get a look at a few aspects of the game.
The voice acting was pretty snappy, but I was surprised to see a handful of character-specific elements from the demo.
I thought the art style was good, but I couldn't stop thinking about the soundtrack. The most important part of being a great composer is the music. The main theme has already been a staple of my music career, so it's a shame. I was hoping that the game would be a little different, but I'm hoping that you can still tune it.
The soundtrack for Heart Dealing Spirits 2 does look very similar to the one used by the original. There are moments of melancholy that reminded me of songs from the original game, but the soundtrack is a bit more trippy, with some lounge-like music, and very surreal sounding melodies. The main theme, meanwhile, has an edge in that it features the beginnings of a terrible accident that got them into a terrible situation. The main theme of the game features the beginning of a terrible accident, and while it has an edge in that it can't really hide the fact that the story is fairly dark, the soundtrack really doesn't hold back. It's more upbeat and meditative than what was in the original game, but I can't help but notice the changes, particularly with the new soundtrack.
What do you think of this score? Are you getting it right? If so, what do you think of the game's music in general? What did you think of its score?
It was the first time I heard the orchestral score, which was my favorite. It was filled with magical music that I felt immersed in, and the music was beautifully done. That soundtrack really reminded me of the opening theme of a much older anime called Yuki. It was full of psychedelic and surreal-sounding music that was moving.
Did you ever see a movie as a scoring for a video game? Do you think you can take inspiration from that soundtrack?
It's definitely a bit like Neon Genesis Evangelion, although I wouldn't say it's a super polished experience. The film has its own story that comes out of the movie as well. It has its own characters, characters, and worldview that isn't quite as enthralling as Neon Genesis Evangelion.
When you started, I was involved in making the game, so that sounds pretty familiar. The biggest influence is Megaman and me, but Megaman's sound is very different. He plays off that tone quite a bit.
What would you say if someone wrote a song for a game?
One of my favourite music composers, which is Daisuke Nakamura, did an amazing job of creating the atmosphere and setting for the game. I liked the use of the Piano, since I don't really like electronic music.
What does your experience with music go into the process of composing music?
It goes into the character design of the game. I find that I have some of the biggest anxiety problems in the game, and the world around me is pretty alien and violent. The player's theme of wanting to get into a game for the first time, that's pretty unsettling. Then the player plays the theme that is playing in the background.
What are some of your favourite video game songs?
I'd really like to say that some of my favorites in this list are the Super Mario Bros., Metal Gear Solid, and Zelda games.
